INFORMATICA'S GAURAV DHILLON NAMED CEO OF THE YEAR BY SILICONINDIA MAGAZINE
Readers of Silicon Valley technology publication select Dhillon as nation's top CEO of Indian descent
REDWOOD CITY, Calif., November 20, 2001 - Enterprise analytics leader Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ: INFA) today announced that Gaurav Dhillon, CEO and cofounder, was named CEO of the Year by siliconindia magazine. Presented to Mr. Dhillon at the siliconindia Annual Technology and Entrepreneurship Conference in Santa Clara on Saturday, the annual award recognizes the business achievements and contributions of executives across the nation to the advancement of the IT industry.
“A chief executive's role is threefold: to achieve shareholder value, deliver valuable customer-oriented solutions and create a company culture that encourages employee innovation,” said siliconindia editor Yogesh Sharma. “Gaurav has shown strong commitment to the IT industry by creating and sustaining a company that will play a critical role in shaping the emerging enterprise analytics market in the coming years.”
According to Sharma, more than 200,000 technology professionals of Indian descent work in the Bay Area and represent one of America's most successful immigrant groups, having collectively created companies that account for $235 billion in market value.
“This award is an honor for Informatica and recognition of our progress by both the Indian and technology communities,” said Dhillon. “Informatica's progress is a testament to its world-class management team, to Diaz Nesamoney, our co-founder and COO, and some of the finest people in the software industry who work here as a team to propel our growth. Informatica and its enterprise analytics solutions have helped nearly 1,400 companies, including some of the world's largest entities, achieve significant business results. We continue to build on that success by staying innovative and focusing closely on our customers' needs.”
CEO of the Year candidates were submitted by siliconindia's 300,000 readers, who nominated hundreds of technology professionals of Indian descent. The magazine's editorial staff then narrowed the list to five CEOs and once again passed the ballot to its readers to cast the definitive vote for the winner.
