INFORMATICA CHOSEN BY HEALTH NET AS CORPORATE STANDARD

One of nation's top healthcare companies selects Informatica PowerCenter for enterprise data integration

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., September 30, 2002 - Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ: INFA), the leading provider of business analytics software, today announced that Health Net, Inc. (NYSE:HNT), one of the nation's largest publicly traded managed health care companies, has standardized on the Informatica PowerCenter data integration platform. By enabling a common enterprise-wide information and analytics architecture, Informatica PowerCenter can help Health Net drive internal operational efficiencies, maximize the effectiveness of healthcare delivery to customers and improve service.

“As a critical component of Health Net's business analytics solution, Informatica PowerCenter can provide significant business benefits, such as helping us increase customer service, and to move more quickly in anticipating and meeting the demands of the marketplace,” said David Home, director, information technology group, data warehouse at Health Net, Inc. “We selected Informatica for its robust global repository, and for its flexibility in supporting a wide range of corporate goals. From its initial implementation, Informatica PowerCenter is being successfully leveraged by divisions across the organization.”

Health Net has grown rapidly through diversification of services and acquisitions. By reconciling data drawn from multiple diverse systems across the company, Informatica PowerCenter is already enabling Health Net to build an enterprise data warehouse that will accelerate the discovery and fine-tuning of beneficial business and healthcare-delivery practices.

“Given the rapid escalation of health care costs and the current competitive environment, managed care providers must focus on new operational efficiencies, knowledge-driven practices, and more responsive products,” said Sanjay Poonen, vice president of worldwide marketing at Informatica. “This can't be done in a fragmented system environment, or without consistent metrics and powerful analytics. By using Informatica PowerCenter to integrate disparate sources of information, create a common environment with consistent metrics and analytic views, health care organizations can operate more efficiently and respond more effectively to healthcare needs.”

In addition to Informatica PowerCenter, Health Net is deploying Informatica PowerConnect software to directly source data from multiple systems including PeopleSoft, SAP, Siebel and IBM AS/400 platforms.

Health Net, Inc. is one of the nation's largest publicly traded managed health care companies. The company's HMO, insured PPO and government contracts subsidiaries provide health benefits to approximately 5.3 million individuals in 15 states through group, individual, Medicare, Medicaid and TRICARE programs.
