Deutsche Börse Group Wins TDWI 2004 Best Practices Award For Informatica-Powered Real-Time Data Warehouse
Informatica-based customer solutions win prestigious award for eighth-consecutive year
REDWOOD CITY, Calif,
June 21, 2004—Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ: INFA), a leading provider of data integration software, today announced that the Deutsche Börse Group has won The Data Warehousing Institute's (TDWI) prestigious 2004 Best Practices Award in the Real-time Data Warehousing category. One of the world's most innovative stock exchanges, Deutsche Börse won the award for its successful implementation of a real-time "information factory," serving both internal and external users and powered by the Informatica PowerCenter data integration platform.
"The success of our data warehouse hinges on Informatica PowerCenter's ability to source and integrate information in real time-and in 'right time'-to meet our full range of consolidated information needs," said Dr. Klaus Detemple, director of information operations at Deutsche Börse AG. "We're able to provide timely and accurate on-demand trading information to customers, traders, and financial analysts, as well as to our own managers and business strategists. In doing so, we have gained a flexible platform for future information integration initiatives."
The information factory (StatistiX®) is a joint effort of data integration, reporting and business specialists from Deutsche Börse and service providers, principally from the Swiss consulting firm in-factory (http://www.in-factory.com/). It supports several major business applications, including a securities reference data application, equities and fixed-income indices, trade data processing for cash marketplaces and the German regional floor exchanges, as well as trade, order and quote activity data for options-derivatives marketplaces. Benefits derived from the information factory have been substantial and far-reaching, including reduced costs and increased new business.
"The Deutsche Börse real-time data warehouse exemplifies the complementary nature of data integration and EAI platforms to support real- and right-time information sourcing and delivery," said Paul Albright, executive vice president and chief marketing officer at Informatica. "A data warehouse with this kind of foundation can answer a broad spectrum of analytical and operational information requirements, as it is doing at Deutsche Börse. We are pleased to be working with such a pioneering organization, and welcome it to the growing list of Informatica customers that have received the coveted TDWI Best Practices award."
Informatica PowerCenter sources, transforms, and integrates data in real time from a range of information sources and feeds such as EAI message queues. This makes PowerCenter an ideal data integration foundation for real-time information hubs and data warehouses, business activity monitoring (BAM), and zero-latency enterprise (ZLE) computing.
2004 marks the eighth consecutive year that an Informatica customer has won a TDWI Best Practices Award. This year, in addition to Deutsche Börse, two other Informatica customers won Best Practices Awards: Optimus Telecomunicaçöes SA in the category of Delivering a 360-degree View of Customers and Owens & Minor in the category of Radical Data Warehousing/Business Intelligence.
"This year's competition was especially close," said Brenda Woodbridge, general manager of TDWI. "As usual, we had a significant number of outstanding applications related to innovative solutions, but a few stood head and shoulders above the rest. This year's winners definitely epitomize the best in the industry today."
Nominations were judged by a panel of experts with the winners clearly demonstrating that their data warehouse and business intelligence projects were innovative solutions to common problems faced by data warehousing practitioners.
