Informatica CEO Spotlights The ‘Next Wave’ Of Data Integration At Informatica World 2005

Keynote address highlights trends in cross-enterprise data integration that will better enable the virtual enterprise

INFORMATICA WORLD 2005, Washington, June 6, 2005—Customers and partners of Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ: INFA) today heard from Sohaib Abbasi, president and CEO, as he discussed how outsourcing will drive the coming wave of data integration requirements.  During his keynote address at the annual Informatica World global data integration conference, Abbasi discussed why cross-enterprise data integration is increasingly a strategic necessity and detailed how innovations in data integration will enable the "virtual enterprise" by overcoming the constraints of organizational and IT system boundaries.

"In recent years, the need for data integration has expanded far beyond data warehousing to encompass all types of analytic and operational initiatives.  We're now seeing a new wave of requirements as a result of enterprises' increased outsourcing of business functions and processes," said Abbasi. "As more functions and processes are outsourced, the associated IT systems are being further fragmented.  As a result, enterprises have even less control of and visibility into business-critical data. The next wave of data integration solutions will extend control and visibility - across both in-house and outsourced systems - to make the virtual-enterprise concept a reality."

Abbasi's keynote address explained that in order to meet the demands of both enterprise and cross-enterprise data integration, organizations require a robust, integrated, high-performance and scalable platform.  He also revealed details of the next major release of Informatica's data integration platform, code named Zeus.

"Informatica's strategic product roadmap has anticipated customers' desires to move from departmental data warehousing projects to enterprise-wide data integration initiatives and now to cross-enterprise data integration imperatives," added Abbasi. "We continue to advance the platform to enable universal access and integration of all data as well as ensure reliable, high-performance and scalable global deployments."
