Informatica has been positioned as a leader in the Gartner Master Data Management Magic Quadrant for Customer Data Solutions for the fourth consecutive year.1 "In the past few years, enterprises have learned that better quality master data equates to better results in the business said Dennis Moore, senior vice president of master data management at Informatica. "Informatica's leadership in master data management, recognized once again by Gartner Group, enables our customers to serve their customers better, introduce products faster, achieve their supply chain goals, and make better decisions."

Gartner's 2013 Magic Quadrant for Master Data Management of Customer Data Solutions defines leaders as those who "have strong results and strong delivery capabilities, and will continue to have them. They typically possess a large, satisfied customer base (relative to the size of the market) and enjoy high visibility in the market. The size and financial strength of the Leaders enable them to remain viable in a challenging economy. Leaders have mature offerings and track records of successful deployments, even in the most challenging environments, across all geographies and in many industries."

According to Gartner, "Master Data is the consistent and uniform set of identifiers and extended attributes that describes the core entities of the enterprise, such as customers, prospective clients, citizens, suppliers, sites, hierarchies and chart of accounts,"  and "Master Data Management (MDM) is a technology-enabled discipline in which business and IT work together to ensure the uniformity, accuracy, stewardship, semantic consistency and accountability of the enterprise's official, shared master data assets."1  Best-in-class organizations use MDM to attract and retain customers, maximize wallet share of existing customers through improved cross-sell and up-sell, and comply with government regulations.

Per Gartner, "Many organizations have now invested in creating a new central system to master their customer data, with the majority (an estimated 80%) of organizations buying packaged MDM of customer data solutions, as opposed to building the capability themselves."1
