Informatica Customer KPN Showcases Operational Excellence To Win Prestigious Ventana Research Leadership Award

Dutch telecomm takes top honors in Information Management with Informatica data integration and data quality implementation

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., October 22, 2008 -  Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ: INFA), the leading independent provider of data integration software and services, today announced that its customer KPN (NYSE: KPN) has won the coveted 2008 Ventana Research Leadership Award in the Information Management category. The Dutch telecommunications giant has created a comprehensive customer data hub, with Informatica as the enabling data integration, data quality and synchronization platform. The result is trusted, 360 degree views of customers across its extensive operational and analytical CRM processes.

“Our Informatica-powered solution has been instrumental in ensuring customer satisfaction, helping to drive such results as increased average revenue per customer, decreased customer churn and enhanced call center productivity,” said Jan Muchez, CIO, KPN. “With all pertinent data gathered in one place, with real-time cleansing and standardization, our people have at their fingertips an integrated, definitive view of the customer – a ‘golden’ view – so they can act quickly and confidently in addressing customer inquiries and requirements.”

The Informatica data integration platform was critical to achieving success. During the course of KPN’s project, Informatica technology was used to migrate data from a number of legacy systems into a new Siebel-based environment, synchronize the data using real-time data services, and optimize customer data quality. A real-time Customer Data Cleansing (CDC) platform based on the Informatica PowerCenter data integration and Informatica Data Quality software was introduced to provide real-time data services, two-way data cleansing and matching services for the KPN master data management (MDM) environment.

“We are extremely proud of KPN winning the 2008 Ventana Award, and of the company’s results from using the Informatica comprehensive, unified and open platform, particularly our leading data integration and data quality technology. Indeed, we singled KPN out as the overall winner of our own Informatica 2008 Innovation Awards earlier this year,” said Chris Boorman, chief marketing officer, Informatica. “What KPN’s success highlights is the need for businesses to address not only system and data fragmentation, but also data trustworthiness, in a real-time fashion – along with the very real and substantial operational efficiencies and benefits that result from doing so.”
