FAST Signs OEM Agreement With Informatica

Deal Extends Value of BI Built on Search by Enabling Greater Access to Structured Application Data

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., January 29, 2008 -  Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ: INFA), the leading independent provider of data integration software, today announced  that Fast Search & Transfer ASA (FAST) the leading global provider of search technologies has selected Informatica's PowerCenter to help enable powerful new data interoperability.  Under the terms of the agreement, FAST will embed Informatica's market-leading data integration software within the FAST Adaptive Information Warehouse (AIW) to simplify access to structured enterprise information. In addition, FAST has developed a PowerCenter adapter to capture extracted metadata in AIW using linguistic analysis techniques. The ability to deliver trustworthy data collected from disparate systems further enhances AIW, making AIW, with its highly flexible retrieval-centric architecture, the platform of choice for Business Intelligence (BI).

"We are pleased that our partnership with FAST delivers an innovative new solution to address the traditional challenges of business intelligence," said Harry Gould, senior vice president of alliances at Informatica.  "By combining the capabilities of Informatica and FAST, organizations can gain new levels of information access, productivity and insight."

Unlike traditional BI, which is often limited to pre-defined reports developed by in-house IT staff, FAST's Business Intelligence Built on Search empowers business users to simply explore and analyze enterprise data. By empowering business users and reducing demands on IT staff, FAST's products allow users to benefit from timely answers with the utmost efficiency.  The addition of Informatica's complementary data integration software eliminates much of the complexity associated with accessing information from various enterprise systems.

"Corporate decision making is often decentralized, requiring business managers to access trusted information in real-time across various data silos", said Davor P. Sutija, senior vice president of enterprise products at FAST.  "By working with Informatica, we can enable greater data interoperability and unlock the true business value of BI.  We are advancing BI to the next level by providing pervasive access to data for ad-hoc query and analysis and giving decision makers a tool that allows them to make more intelligent business decisions."
