In the wake of the financial crisis of 2007/2008, the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS) issued a regulation (BCBS239) in January 2013 requiring all major banks globally to substantiate the quality of their risk reporting. UBS, like all global banks, faced a daunting challenge in 2015 - prove to regulators that the organization understands and controls the quality of the data it uses to run its business. The UBS Group Data Dictionary solution was implemented and included Informatica PowerCenter, Informatica Data Quality (IDQ) and Informatica Metadata Manager. By extending and utilizing the capability of Informatica IDQ, UBS created an enterprise-grade data governance tool to manage data definitions, data quality rules and controls. Using an innovative integration with Metadata Manager, business users can now explore data lineage across a landscape of 2,800 applications.
