People around the world come to Informatica events to receive training and certification on the latest technologies. But what happens when in-person events go away?
Earlier this year we were gearing up for a number of certification sessions to meet demand for training on our cloud-native solutions. Then COVID hit.
Going virtual was the obvious answer. But that would mean reinventing our highly successful in-person certification programs for an online experience. Although we hadn’t done this before, our goal was nothing if not ambitious. Could we train 10,000 people around the globe in virtual sessions? After several months of 7 am Zoom calls with teams from across the company and all over the world, the answer is a resounding yes.
Our pivot to virtual came as Informatica released a number of cloud-first, cloud-native solutions. So it’s fitting that these new trainings have been focused on topics related to cloud-native data management (there’s a list of available trainings at the bottom of this post).
After you watch each series, you can complete the quizzes to receive a Foundation Level certification and a cool digital badge. So far, the response has been tremendous. We’re receiving multiple times the number of participants we originally anticipated. People have told us the training was “an insightful learning experience,” a “wonderful enriching series,” and an “amazing learning experience.”
One reason I believe we’ve been so successful is the quality of training. We picked the most knowledgeable, compelling speakers in the company, developed great content, and then aimed to deliver the highest production quality.
The result is training that’s interesting, even entertaining. And going virtual has allowed us to attract high-profile speakers who are on the front lines with large, innovative customers and partners. For instance, one of the featured speakers in our data governance and privacy training is Susan Wilson, our VP for the Data Governance Segment, who speaks with more CDOs in a typical week than probably anyone in the world. You won’t get more direct, impactful insights than that.
Aside from hearing the great feedback from participants, one of the most gratifying aspects of the program has been logging onto LinkedIn and seeing all the Informatica certification badges appear on people’s profiles.
It seems the combination of valuable training, the prospect of career development and growth, plus a digital badge you can share on your social media profiles has helped the program take off and grow beyond an initial group of Informatica partners and customers.
In fact, there’s a bit of organic community building around the certification program. I keep in touch through regular emails to participants. And we continue to roll out new programs all the time. I invite you to try it out for yourself – and show off your badge!
All of our popular Foundation Level Certification Series are currently available on demand. The link here will take you to all of them and you can register and take them on demand immediately: Informatica Foundation Level Certification Series.
