Informatica Positioned In Leaders Quadrant For Data Integration Tools "Magic Quadrant"
Ability to Execute and Completeness of Vision evaluated in 2007 report
REDWOOD CITY, Calif.,
October 11, 2007—Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ: INFA), a leading provider of data integration software, today announced Gartner, Inc. has positioned Informatica in the Leaders Quadrant in its Magic Quadrant for Data Integration Tools, 20071 report. Gartner Magic Quadrants provide "visual snapshots of a market's direction, maturity and participants," with leaders defined as "front runners in the convergence of single purpose tools into an offering that supports a range of data delivery styles. These vendors will be strong in the more traditional data integration patterns such as ETL, they will support newer patterns such as data federation, and will provide capabilities that enable data services in the context of SOA. Leaders have significant mind share in the market, and resources skilled with their tools are readily available. These vendors establish market trends, to a large degree, by providing new functional capabilities in their products, and by identifying new types of business problems where data integration tools can bring significant value. Examples of deployments that span multiple projects and types of use cases are commonplace within their customer base." The complete report, including the quadrant graphic, is available on the Informatica web site at http://www.informatica.com/di_mq.
In July, Informatica was similarly positioned in the Leaders Quadrant in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Data Quality Tools, 2007 report.
"We believe it is a pleasure and distinction to be placed by Gartner in the leaders quadrant in the data integration tools market. In the past 12 months, our installed base expanded to over 2,850 customers worldwide as we continue our focus on delivering the best products in our category, superior customer service, and continued innovation," said Brian Gentile, executive vice president and chief marketing officer, Informatica. "We will continue to concentrate on new functionality to enhance the value of enterprise data integration, continuing to build strategic partnerships, and pioneering the delivery of data integration as a service - all of which helps bring our data integration and data quality solutions to a widening circle of customers."
According to Gartner, "Contemporary pressures are leading to an increase in investment in data integration in all vertical industries and geographies. Business drivers, such as the imperative for speed to market and agility to change business processes and models, are forcing organizations to manage their data assets differently. Simplification of processes and the IT infrastructure are necessary to achieve transparency, and transparency requires a consistent and complete view of the data, which represents the performance and operation of the business. Data integration is a critical component of an overall enterprise information management strategy that can address these data-oriented issues."
A Complete Data Integration Solution Informatica has long been an innovator in enterprise data integration, contributing to the definition, scoping the requirements and delivering the technology to improve the usefulness of on-premise and off-premise enterprise data.
Informatica's enterprise data integration solutions encompass a completeness of vision in addressing customer's challenges. The products available include PowerCenter, PowerExchange, Informatica Data Quality and Informatica Data Explorer.
Informatica PowerCenter, the company's flagship product and the result of 14 years of genuine innovation, is a single, unified enterprise data integration platform that allows organizations of all sizes to access, discover, and integrate data from virtually any business system, in almost any format, and deliver that data throughout the enterprise at any latency. PowerCenter addresses complex, real-world problems such as migrating off legacy systems, consolidating application instances, and synchronizing data across multiple operational systems.
Informatica PowerExchange, a broad set of intelligent data access tools based on a services-oriented architecture (SOA), provides access to data in all critical enterprise data systems, including mainframe, midrange, and file-based systems. Tightly integrated with Informatica PowerCenter, PowerExchange helps organizations leverage mission-critical operational data by making it available to people and processes without requiring manual coding of data extraction programs.
Informatica Data Quality and Informatica Data Explorer are specifically designed to put the control of data quality processes in the hands of business professionals. With powerful data profiling and mapping capabilities in the hands of the business and IT, data analysts and data stewards work with Informatica Data Explorer to search and profile data from any source. With Informatica Data Quality users can find hidden data quality issues, gaps, inconsistencies and incompatibilities within and across data sources. The software delivers powerful data cleansing, data matching, reporting and data quality monitoring capabilities in a single solution. Data stewards use the technology to easily design, manage, deploy, and control departmental and enterprise-wide data quality initiatives.
Informatica Complex Data Exchange fully automates the transformation of complex data, the most labor intensive part of the data integration lifecycle, by eliminating the "manual" part of the transformation creation process and creating reuse of technology, skills and investment. Informatica Complex Data Exchange software cuts integration costs by eliminating the need for hand-coding, when changes need to be made to business applications or standards. IT architects have access to pre-built translations, enabling them to map and translate once, and deploy everywhere, across all forms of exchange, regardless of the underlying middleware or deployment platform. Examples of complex data include unstructured data, such as office documents and PDFs; semi-structured data, such as COBOL copybooks, EDI, SWIFT and HIPAA transactions: and complex structured data, which includes large XML schemas such as ACORD in insurance.
Informatica On Demand data integration services allows organizations to integrate data in their SaaS and BPO applications, seamlessly and securely across the Internet, with data in their on-premise applications and systems. Informatica On Demand services are subscription-based, hosted services that provide an easy-to-use, cost-effective approach to data integration. Using only a Web browser, users are able to create, configure and activate a hosted service that leverages PowerCenter, Informatica's enterprise data integration platform, to deliver powerful, specific and secure data integration services.
