KEY RELATIONSHIPS ACROSS ENTIRE E-BUSINESS VALUE CHAIN

Powered by Informatica's market-leading data-integration software,
Informatica Applications deliver multi-channel e-business insight

PALO ALTO, Calif., February 22, 2000 - Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ: INFA), a leading provider of integrated analytic solutions for e-business, today unveiled Informatica Applicationsä, three integrated suites of analytic applications that for the first time will give e-businesses the ability to evaluate the performance of their entire web of customer, partner and supplier relationships, and act upon the results to achieve optimal business performance. Powered by Informatica's market-leading data-integration infrastructure software, which is fast becoming the platform of choice for e-business analysis, Informatica Applications will deliver the industry's most robust analytic solution for gaining real-time insight across the entire e-business value chain.

In order for global companies to thrive in the net economy, they need to be able to integrate highly flexible, robust analytics into their operations to meet the real-time response needs of e-business, as well as maintain effective customer, partner and supplier relationships across their entire e-business value chain. Informatica Applications will address the integrated analytic requirements of e-businesses by focusing on the interdependencies among three key areas - CRM, Business Operations and Procurement - that together make up what Informatica calls the "e-business value chain."

"With today's announcement, Informatica makes an impressive entry into the analytic applications market with a comprehensive suite for optimizing B2B e-business operations," said Henry Morris, vice president of Data Warehousing and Applications at International Data Corporation. "The integration of Informatica Applications with robust data-movement and integration infrastructure software forms a strong common platform for moving companies beyond discrete applications."

Informatica Applications is the first family of analytic applications that will allow business managers to access more than just simple reports. This new analytic solution will help managers understand key metrics of their entire business, as well as delve into the underlying causes of business performance variance.

The new applications family will consist of three suites, which include:

  • Informatica Applications for eCRM - a suite of integrated analytic applications designed to help manage customer acquisition, intimacy and retention. eCRM applications contain key performance metrics required to analyze areas such as marketing profitability, click-stream analysis, commerce analysis, pipeline analysis, customer lifetime value and customer retention/defection. The eCRM suite delivers functional analytics for better understanding of customer relationships. Modules within the e-CRM suite include Marketing, Sales and Customer Services

  • Informatica Applications for eBusiness Operations - a suite of integrated analytic applications designed to evaluate and improve internal business processes. eBusiness Operations applications contain key performance metrics required to analyze areas such as budgeting/planning, cost analysis, employee attrition/headcount, employee benefits analysis, inventory analysis and resource planning. Modules within the eBusiness Operation suite include Finance, Human Resources, Logistics and Distribution.

  • Informatica Applications for eProcurement - a suite of integrated analytic applications for evaluating the effectiveness of procurement and supplier relationships. eProcurement applications contain key performance metrics required to analyze areas such as material acquisition, requisition approval rates, price variances, buy/sell volume, on-time purchase order delivery and vendor rating. Modules within the e-Procurement suite include Procurement, Auctions, Inventory and Supplier Management.

PacifiCorp, one of the United States' lowest-cost electricity producers with 1.5 million residential, commercial and industrial electric customers, recently selected an early version of Informatica Applications, as well as its PowerCenter™ and PowerConnect™ for SAP™ R/3® infrastructure software to deliver multi-channel business insight across its customer-service and back-office operational systems.

"One of the key reasons we selected Informatica was the comprehensive analytic solution it offered, delivering both robust data-integration products and applications that provide the depth and breadth of analysis we need to give decision-makers ammunition for optimizing business performance," said Fort Holcombe, data warehouse manager at PacifiCorp. "Fast time to market with a fully functional, strong analytic solution was also an important consideration for us, one we anticipate we will achieve by adopting Informatica's tightly integrated solution."

Applications Powered by Informatica's Leading Data-Integration Platform
Informatica Applications are powered by Informatica's industry-leading data-integration platform, an essential component for enabling business insight across the entire e-business value chain. Known for its unprecedented scalability, the Informatica data-integration platform helps companies leverage their data across multiple sales, supplier and customer-interaction channels for business intelligence by integrating huge volumes of Web-transaction and clickstream data with information from more traditional enterprise sources such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, relational databases, mainframe systems and external demographic databases.

The Informatica data-integration platform consists of:

  • PowerCenter™ - an enterprise data-integration hub for transforming legacy, relational and ERP data into reliable information for strategic business analysis.

  • PowerCenter.e™ - multi-channel data-integration software optimized for e-business analysis.

  • PowerMart® - an integrated software suite for building and deploying departmental data marts and analytic applications.

  • PowerConnect™ - a family of packaged software products for easily extracting data and metadata from Web, ERP and mainframe applications.

  • Analytic Business Components™ - software "building blocks" that make it easier and faster to include e-business, CRM and ERP applications within an enterprise business intelligence solution.

  • PowerPlugs™ - third-party software programs that "plug in" additional functionality to Informatica products through open APIs.

"Since Informatica Applications are built upon the industry's leading and most robust data-integration platform, they deliver seamless integration of data from heterogeneous sources to achieve 'closed-loop' decision-making systems," said Marv Mouchawar, general manager, Informatica Applications Business Unit. "Our architecture provides a means for business managers to easily obtain answers to cross-functional questions that span the e-business value chain in addition to the ability to drill down from summary information to detailed transaction data even if the information comes from numerous disparate systems across the extended enterprise."
