INFORMATICA AND ARIBA TO FORM ALLIANCE
TO DELIVER B2B E-COMMERCE ANALYTICS

Companies to jointly develop, market and distribute analytic solutions that extend Ariba ORMS application for e-business insight

PALO ALTO, Calif. and MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., February 23, 2000 - Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ: INFA), a leading provider of integrated analytic solutions for e-business, and Ariba, Inc. (NASDAQ: ARBA), the leader in business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce solutions, today announced that the companies have signed a memorandum of understanding intending to form an alliance to jointly deliver "Informatica CommerceAnalytics for Ariba ORMSTM," a tightly integrated B2B e-commerce analytic solution. This first-of-a-kind analytic solution will complement the Ariba ORMSTM B2B procurement solution and give Ariba customers the ability to optimize the performance of commerce systems, including their extended supply chains of buyers, suppliers, value-added service providers, and B2B marketplaces.

Informatica CommerceAnalytics for Ariba ORMS will tightly integrate Informatica's PowerMartTŪ data-integration software with a functionally deep set of commerce analytics through joint design by Informatica and Ariba for targeting critical Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) associated with commerce processes and supply chain management issues. The product is scheduled for availability in Q2'00 and will be included with every installation of the Ariba ORMS B2B procurement solution.

"Through our alliance with Informatica, we will offer our customers expanded analytic capabilities to optimize their supply chains and commerce processes," said Dave Rome, vice president of alliances for Ariba. "By bundling this application with the Ariba ORMS B2B procurement solution, we will give our customers an integrated, best-of- breed Informatica and Ariba to Form Alliance solution that leverages the explosion in B2B transactions for greater e-business intelligence."

E-commerce Analytics - a "Must Have" for Supply Chain Management

As the number of buyers and suppliers available for online transactions increases exponentially, a detailed understanding of the complex interactions among customers, partners and suppliers becomes an integral part of every company's supply chain.

With the delivery of Informatica CommerceAnalytics for Ariba ORMS, Informatica and Ariba will directly address the analytic requirements for optimizing commerce and other supply-chain operations.

Informatica CommerceAnalytics for Ariba ORMS will extract data from the Ariba ORMS B2B procurement solution and populate a pre-built analytic application. The results will then be presented to a variety of business decision-makers, including procurement managers, financial and other operations analysts, as well as everyday purchasing managers, through a suite of robust analytic applications. With critical analytical information in hand, these business analysts will be empowered to make better decisions - decisions that can lower costs, improve service levels, and optimize commerce processes.

"In the competitive landscape of B2B e-business, winning companies must maintain a sophisticated understanding of their business across multiple channels and accounting for many variables within a complex web of customer, partner and supplier relationships," said Diaz Nesamoney, president of Informatica. "Informatica's software platform provides an essential component of Internet infrastructure - a flexible backbone that integrates data from multiple transaction systems and enhances it for analysis. By pairing its Ariba ORMS B2B procurement solution with our joint analytic solution, we believe Ariba will be positioned well ahead of its B2B e-commerce competitors in giving customers the insight they need to optimize the performance of their e-businesses."
