INFORMATICA AND NET PERCEPTIONS FORM STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP TO PROVIDE E-COMMERCE COMPANIES WITH POWERFUL e-CRM SOLUTION

Software integration to help e-commerce leaders consolidate customer data to conduct real-time, personalized suggestive selling

PALO ALTO, Calif., March 16, 2000 - Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ: INFA), a leading provider of integrated analytic solutions for e-business, and Net Perceptions, Inc. (NASDAQ: NETP), a leader in enterprise-wide personalization software and services, today announced a strategic partnership to deliver a tightly integrated solution to help e-commerce companies offer real-time personalization capabilities to their online customers. The pairing of Informatica's eCRM application suite and its PowerCenter.e e-business data-integration software with Net Perceptions' personalization technology is designed to help e-commerce companies grow their businesses by deepening customer relationships, increasing sales and enhancing profitability with every transaction.

“To compete and win in the game for customer loyalty and installed-base growth, one of the most critical initiatives for e-businesses today is customer relationship management (CRM). By providing technology that helps companies create a richly unique personal experience for their online customers, Net Perceptions is a leader in helping e-business companies improve CRM by building enduring one-to-one customer relationships,” said Steve Larsen, Net Perceptions’ senior vice president. “We believe our partnership with Informatica, a company with a strong track record for delivering proven data-integration solutions for e-businesses, will help deliver exceptional value to our joint customers. By enabling them to integrate consumer information from across multiple channels, we will significantly enhance their ability to provide interactive e-CRM and e-commerce capabilities on a highly personalized, one-to-one basis.”

Net Perceptions' real-time personalization technology predicts an individual’s preferences and makes specific recommendations accordingly, including cross-sell or up-sell items, tailored Web site content and banner ads. The technology does this by learning about each individual’s preferences through observing real-time Web site behavior, recalling past online behavior and asking the individual to rate a number of relevant items.

Paired with Informatica's leading data-integration software, Net Perceptions will combine real-time information with historical data such as prior purchase history, customer segmentation and other online and legacy information, to enable e-businesses to offer their customers relevant, highly personalized recommendations.

"E-businesses generate an enormous volume of data from multiple channels, including e-commerce servers, customer databases, Web logs, call centers and third-party demographic databases. In order to leverage this wealth of information to improve business processes such as CRM, e-businesses must first integrate the data from disparate systems across the enterprise,” said Diaz Nesamoney, president of Informatica. “The Informatica platform provides an essential component of Internet infrastructure - a flexible backbone that integrates data from multiple transaction systems and enhances it for analysis. We believe the union of Informatica's multi-channel data-integration capabilities with Net Perceptions' leading personalization technology will create a powerful CRM solution that e-businesses can leverage to sustain a competitive edge.”

The integrated products are scheduled to be available during the second quarter of 2000.
