INFORMATICA SHIPS E-BUSINESS ANALYTIC APPLICATIONS FAMILY
First integrated analytic applications to enable analysis across entire e-business value chain by linking customer, partner and supplier relationships
PALO ALTO, Calif., June 27, 2000 - Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ: INFA) today announced the general availability of Informatica Applications, a tightly integrated family of analytic applications that for the first time gives e-businesses the ability to evaluate the performance of their entire web of customer, partner and supplier relationships, and act upon the results to achieve optimal business performance. Powered by Informatica's market-leading data-integration software platform, Informatica Applications delivers the industry's only analytic solution for gaining real-time insight across the entire "e-business value chain." As businesses progress towards developing their online distribution channels over the web as well as automating their procurement using trading exchanges and marketplaces, the need to establish visibility across their value chain becomes a critical competitive advantage.
Informatica Applications addresses the integrated analytic requirements of e-businesses by focusing on the interdependencies among three key areas - customer relationship management (CRM), business operations and procurement - that together make up the e-business value chain.
"In order for global companies to thrive in the New Economy, they need to be able to integrate highly flexible, robust analytics into their operations to meet the real-time response needs of e-business, as well as maintain effective customer, partner and supplier relationships," said Marv Mouchawar, general manager, Informatica Applications Business Unit. "Until now, companies had to rely on isolated, 'stovepipe' analytic applications that were difficult to piece together to obtain a holistic, enterprise-wide view of their business. Only Informatica Applications currently provides this level of integrated cross-functional, cross-value-chain analytic power."
Informatica Applications is comprised of three integrated families of analytic applications:
- Informatica Application for eCRM™. To aid in managing customer acquisition, intimacy and retention, the eCRM application delivers more than 150 business metrics for analyzing areas including marketing effectiveness, Web site traffic, e-commerce activity, customer pipelines, lifetime value and retention/defection rates. Questions that can be answered using the eCRM application include 'Who are my most profitable customers? How can we better understand the patterns of our Web site traffic? How can we better leverage product-buying patterns? What is the potential for maximizing our customer relationships?' The eCRM application provides a truly universal view of customers and their behaviors, and helps uncover new business opportunities and generate new revenue.
- Informatica Application for eBusiness Operations™. Designed to help companies analyze and improve financial and operational performance, the eBusiness Operations application contains more than 100 business metrics for analyzing key areas such as product profitability, budgeting/planning, operational costs, employee attrition/headcount, employee benefits and production-line planning. eBusiness Operations provides a uniform view into all departmental operations and business channels, helps pinpoint problems in complex enterprise processes, and provides the insight needed to improve operational performance and reduce costs.
- Informatica Application for eProcurement™. To help companies evaluate the effectiveness of procurement and supplier relationships, the eProcurement application contains more than 150 business metrics for analyzing areas including material acquisitions, requisition approval rates, price variances, buy/sell volumes, on-time purchase order deliveries and vendor ratings. Using eProcurement, companies can analyze purchasing from all sources across all procurement functions, obtain the insight needed to effectively evaluate supplier relationships, and reduce or eliminate costs associated with direct and indirect goods and services.
The analytic applications market today is comprised of many separate, specialized applications -- departmental rather than enterprise in scope," said Henry Morris, vice president of Data Warehousing and Applications at IDC. "The Informatica Applications product family is impressive for its breadth, recognizing the need companies have to analyze their businesses across front- and back-office operations."
Industry-leading Companies Choose Informatica Applications
Companies that have currently licensed Informatica Applications include SGI, HP Inkjet Imaging Solutions, GE Capital IT Solutions, Philips Semiconductors and QuinStreet.
SGI, a leading provider of high-performance computing technologies, selected the Informatica Application for eProcurement to help its purchasing managers more effectively select and negotiate relationships with suppliers.
"We were drawn to the enterprise vision and architecture behind Informatica Applications, which will allow us to obtain enterprise-wide totals on purchasing data quickly and accurately," said David Fairbanks, director of IT at SGI. "With the implementation of the eProcurement application, we will be able to examine purchasing activity on specific commodities by region, supplier and past performance, and use that data to make intelligent business decisions and optimize our supplier relationships."
Internet sales and marketing specialist QuinStreet is building a vast network of online affiliates to drive Web traffic and ultimately increase sales for Internet-based merchant partners such as iMotors, Hooked on Phonics and AccuWeather.com. The company selected Informatica Application for eCRM to better measure the effectiveness of banner ads placed on affiliates' Web sites, and to gain insight into customers' interests and behavior patterns as they navigate through merchants' e-commerce sites.
"In order to effectively leverage the vast amount of clickstream data being generated by consumers as they access our merchant and affiliate partner sites, we needed a robust analytic solution for consolidating and transforming this information into a useful format," said Patrick Nolan, director of data management at QuinStreet. "From a technology standpoint, Informatica Application for eCRM was the only solution we evaluated that provided the business metrics required to analyze specific key areas of our business. We also recognized Informatica's market-leading position in the analytics market today, and felt reassured we were choosing the best technology for our mission-critical project."
