INFORMATICA DELIVERS INSIGHT TO AMERICAN EAGLE OUTFITTERS FOR GREATER SALES AND OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY

Leading specialty retailer picks Informatica data integration platform as a cornerstone of its data warehouse effort

PALO ALTO, Calif., May 21, 2001 – Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ: INFA), the leading provider of eBusiness analytic solutions, today announced that lifestyle retailer American Eagle Outfitters (AE) has selected the Informatica data integration platform to integrate key business and customer information from multiple source databases into an enterprise-wide data warehouse. The business insight derived from consolidated sales, inventory, planning, and store data will enhance the company's business-critical analysis capabilities. Anticipated results include more effective marketing campaigns, improved merchandise allocation and increased sales. By leveraging the power of the Informatica data integration platform, AE will make information from disparate sources readily available to decision makers across the enterprise.

“The Informatica-fed data warehouse will be a tremendous asset to information consumers throughout the company, including store operations, finance, planning, allocation, and marketing,” said Ken Watts, Vice President of Information Services and CIOwith AE. “It will give AE analysts a 360-degree view of the entire enterprise, enabling us to take immediate action to improve performance.”

Ready access to integrated enterprise information will support timely knowledge discovery at AE, Watts emphasized, especially since people will no longer need to make a special request to Information Services to obtain it. “We fully expect that the Informatica-based data warehouse will significantly improve business performance and responsiveness across our entire chain,” he said.

“In the highly competitive retail environment, companies must be able to recognize and react to trends quickly in order to outflank the competition,” said Diaz Nesamoney, president and COO of Informatica. “We are pleased that American Eagle Outfitters has chosen Informatica to improve its competitiveness and responsiveness. Our powerful data integration platform will help the company spot trends in near real time, rather than in hindsight.”
