INFORMATICA LAUNCHES REAL-TIME ANALYTICS SOLUTION TO ACCELERATE BUSINESS RESPONSIVENESS
Adds powerful new functionality to the Informatica PowerCenter data integration platform, signs partnerships with industry’s top three EAI vendors
PALO ALTO, Calif., June 25, 2001 – Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ: INFA), the leading provider of business analytic solutions, today announced the availability of its real-time analytics solution. The core of this solution is the Informatica PowerCenter data integration platform, which has been enhanced with significant new functionality to enable real-time analytics. Informatica has also signed strategic technology and marketing partnerships with the three leading enterprise application integration (EAI) software vendors—TIBCO Software, Vitria and webMethods—which will allow Informatica PowerCenter to integrate complementary real-time transaction data with customers’ analytic information.
Real-time analytics combines the wealth of historic information stored in enterprise systems—such as ERP, CRM and SCM—with real-time data generated by EAI systems and message queues. With the addition of real-time analytics, companies can enhance the value and timeliness of the analytic information from across their enterprise for a more immediate business response.
“Companies up until now have relied on ‘point-in-time’ analytics. In today’s highly competitive business environment, however, there is tremendous value in analytics that mirror the current activity of a business in real time. ‘Just-in-time’ analytics are increasingly critical for companies looking to hone their competitive edge,” said Madan Sheina, industry analyst at ComputerWire. “Informatica has successfully combined all of the strategic elements required to conduct true real-time analytics.”
The new Informatica real-time analytics solution is comprised of the following key elements:
- Real-time functionality enhancements to the Informatica PowerCenter data integration platform. New features provide the ability to: 1) capture data streams in real time from EAI and message queue sources, 2) process data instantly to integrate real-time data with other relevant enterprise information according to specified business rules, 3) process incremental changed data using patented technology, and 4) significantly reduce processing time with shared, dynamic lookup caching and parallel processing capabilities.
- Real-time integration of EAI and message queue data with other enterprise information. Direct real-time support for leading message queues and EAI systems now includes “always-on” connectivity for sourcing and targeting IBM MQSeries as well as integration support through new technology partnerships with EAI vendors TIBCO, Vitria and webMethods. Informatica is delivering integration for TIBCO ActiveEnterprise, Vitria BusinessWare and the webMethods integration platform, enabling companies to complement their existing analytic environments with up-to-the-minute, real-time information. The Informatica solution can both source and target these systems while integrating real-time and time-slice data from other enterprise sources, including ERP, CRM, relational databases and legacy systems. In addition to joint technology-integration efforts, Informatica and each vendor will also collaborate in joint sales and marketing activities. (See today’s accompanying press releases.)
- Personalized delivery of real-time alerts and information. The final portion of the real-time analytics solution, providing office and mobile users with real-time alerts and access to personalized analytics at the point of work, is scheduled for release by Informatica in the third quarter of this year. Remote access to real-time data will be important for the increasing number of mobile knowledge workers that require immediate access to vital information regardless of their location.
“Given the accelerating pace of business change and decreasing cycle times, enterprises today are highly motivated to slash their operational and decision-making bottlenecks,” said Girish Pancha, senior vice president and general manager of platform technologies at Informatica. “By offering real-time analytics, Informatica empowers companies to make more timely, meaningful business decisions that can, in turn, help them reduce costs, improve customer service and increase operational efficiency.”
