INFORMATICA DEVELOPER NETWORK DELIVERS INNOVATIVE ADD-ON SOLUTIONS FOR DATA INTEGRATION AND ANALYTICS
Fast-growing partner program gains 1,600 members in first six months
REDWOOD CITY, Calif., October 10, 2001 – Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ: INFA), the leading provider of enterprise analytic software, today announced several key milestones for the Informatica Developer Network, a global program to drive rapid development of customer-oriented add-on solutions to the Informatica data integration platform. Latest milestones include the first Informatica- and partner-branded products developed under the program; a new program for certifying partner products utilizing Informatica technologies; a new developer kit designed to help members create compelling add-on software solutions and the registration of more than 1,600 external developers and users—representing over 400 companies in 32 countries—in the program’s first six months.
The Informatica Developer Network is a Web-assisted program designed to help developers expand the business value of the Informatica data integration and analytics platform through innovative third-party add-ons.
“The first products fostered by the Informatica Developer Network are now launched and successfully driving business value for our customers,” said Girish Pancha, senior vice president and general manager of platform technologies at Informatica. “With the launch of the new software developer kit, we expect to evolve the depth and breadth of new and existing add-on products to accommodate customer needs and to accelerate the pace of innovation even further. We will also be collaborating with Informatica Developer Network members to help actively market their new products.”
The first products and services resulting from the Informatica Developer Network program include offerings from Yaletown Technology Group, Data Advantage Group, E.O.M Data and Sapior:
- Released as Informatica branded and supported products, the latest versions of Informatica PowerPlug for ERP and Informatica Data Modeling PowerPlug products were developed in collaboration with Yaletown Technology Group Inc. Informatica PowerPlug for ERP uses XML to help companies automate change management for ERP metadata that is imported from PeopleSoft or SAP into an Informatica PowerCenter repository. Meanwhile, the new version of Informatica Data Modeling PowerPlug provides support for the latest releases of CA/Platinum ERwin, Oracle Designer, and Sybase PowerDesigner in addition to an enhanced user interface and XML-based reporting.
- The Data Advantage Group has integrated its flagship MetaCenter™ product with the Informatica platform. MetaCenter delivers a customizable metadata repository that allows businesses to encapsulate necessary information to manage successful data warehousing solutions.
- Netherlands-based E.O.M. Data has launched an add-on solution that loads data from Informatica PowerCenter directly into targeted SAS data warehouses and reads data from SAS data sources directly into Informatica PowerCenter. SAS Loader eliminates the need to separate SAS load processes, thus reducing the overall effort required to manage and maintain the data warehouse environment.
- UK-based Sapior Ltd. has introduced Redbridge, its high-performance surrogate key look-up and generation tool especially designed for data warehouses and marts experiencing high data volumes and arrival rates. Integrated with Informatica PowerCenter, Redbridge can effectively lower the incremental cost of adding a source, insulate against difficulties with slowly changing dimensions, and encourage further integration.
New Developer Kit, Certification Program The newly launched developer kit includes developer-specific software to help members create and test third-party add-on solutions for the Informatica data integration platform. This kit also includes the latest release of the Informatica Metadata Exchange SDK for importing, exporting, and updating metadata in Informatica PowerCenter 5 repositories.
An interactive Web site, http://devnet.informatica.com/ serves as the main portal to the Informatica Developer Network. The site offers 24x7 access to documentation, software development kits, technical support, and a variety of discussion forums. It also showcases key partner solutions and provides a mechanism for direct feedback on development-related issues.
Software products from Informatica Developer Network members can also become certified once they pass a set of requirements established by Informatica. Informatica currently offers two certification levels: Member and Gold. Developer members enjoy benefits depending on the level of certification granted to their products.
