INFORMATICA LAUNCHES PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION PROGRAM

Formally recognizes expert-level practitioners capable of adding significant
value to Informatica-based analytic projects

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., October 15, 2001 – Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ: INFA), the leading provider of enterprise analytic software, today announced the Informatica Professional Certification Program, a formal Web-based testing program offering certification for highly experienced users of Informatica data integration software.  The program is designed to yield a database of expert professionals with verifiable skills in the design and administration of Informatica-based analytic systems.

“The Informatica Professional Certification Program will enable those who use the Informatica data integration platform to verify their level of expertise and leverage it more effectively,” said Tim Dilley, senior vice president of professional services at Informatica. “The ultimate beneficiaries will be Informatica customers, as they can now be better assured they are staffing their Informatica projects with highly qualified personnel.”

“Passing the program’s tests will require considerable knowledge and experience in specific areas related to the Informatica platform,” continued Dilley. “Our goal is not to confirm basic competence, but rather to authenticate genuinely expert individuals who can help customers derive optimum value from complex data integration and analytic projects.”

Components of the program include five online examinations used to determine three different types of certification, and an online database of certified individuals.  Each exam has its own online study guide outlining the subject matter covered in the exam—no classes are required for certification. Typically, certified individuals have used every major feature of the Informatica platform in the real world, have read and used the documentation, and have at least one to two years of full-time experience using Informatica software.

The multiple-choice tests, which take one hour apiece, currently include Architecture and Administration (Exam A), Mapping Design (Exam B), Advanced Administration (Exam C), Advanced Design (Exam D) and Integration Technologies (Exam E).

The certification level of an individual can be verified in minutes by Informatica customers via an online database. Any individual can use the tests to determine their own level of knowledge. When an exam is not passed, the examinee receives a list of improvement areas.
The three levels of certification are:

  • Informatica Certified Administrator (must have passed exams A and C)
  • Informatica Certified Designer (must have passed exams A, B and D)
  • Informatica Certified Consultant  (must have passed all five exams)
Administered by the Informatica Education Services group, the Informatica Professional Certification Program is now available.  More information about the program, including Frequently Asked Questions and a direct link to the certification registration site, can be found at http://www.informatica.com/EducationServices/ProfessionalCertification.  Further questions can be directed to certification@informatica.com.
