INFORMATICA LAUNCHES NEW PLATFORM FOR REAL-TIME DELIVERY OF ENTERPRISE ANALYTICS VIA WEB, WIRELESS AND VOICE
Based on J2EE infrastructure, Internet-based solution broadly delivers easy-to-use, intuitive navigation of KPIs, metrics, alerts and analytic dashboards to corporate decision makers at the point of work
SAN FRANCISCO, Informatica World, October 22, 2001-Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ: INFA), the leading provider of enterprise analytic software, today launched Informatica Analytics Delivery Platform, the first and only Internet-based solution to enable Global 2000 organizations to deliver critical information via analytic dashboards to a broad range of corporate decision makers, whether they are in the office or on the road.
Based on industry-standard J2EE infrastructure, the Internet-based platform enables creation of real-time analytics and alerts packaged as analytic dashboards and delivered to the point of work via Web, wireless and voice recognition interfaces. The platform consists of Informatica Analytics Server, which in a single server delivers Web-based dashboards and administrative consoles, and Informatica Mobile, the mobile dashboard delivery option for WAP-enabled phones, PDAs (Windows CE and PalmOS), text pagers, RIM pagers and voice recognition interfaces. The single server seamlessly extends the capabilities of the Informatica PowerCenter enterprise data integration platform through metadata and real-time data integration.
“This is all about improving decision making to achieve greater operational effectiveness,” said Girish Pancha, general manager and senior vice president of Informatica platform products. “Traditional business intelligence and reporting tools are designed for business analysts and power users. These tools have proven to be difficult to use, inflexible for personalization and interaction, and unable to scale up for broad-scale deployment.
“The Informatica Analytics Delivery Platform directly addresses these limitations by providing analytic dashboards that allow decision makers throughout an organization to be alerted to, navigate through and interact with critical information, such as sales trends, customer order and support logs to allow for real-time, fact-based decision making while in the office or on the road.”
User-centric Design
The Informatica Analytics Delivery Platform was developed with an emphasis on usability, allowing rapid development and deployment of analytic dashboards across the extended enterprise. The analytic dashboards can be customized and shared based on a user's corporate role. They also can be easily personalized with charts, indicators, gauges, alerts, dials and reports, as well as shortcuts to commonly used documents in formats such as Word, Excel, PDF, etc. Using the analytic dashboards as a launch pad, users can follow pre-defined analytic workflows to quickly perform complex root cause analysis. Interaction and navigation are simplified by using Informatica Analytic Workflows (patent-pending), which are saved paths to quickly guide users to relevant reports and information.
“One of the major strengths of the Informatica Analytics Delivery Platform is its ability to provide users with standard metrics, enabling more accurate measurement of business performance,” said Dan Lindstedt, CTO of Core Integration. “Its workflow, alerting features and true thin-client architecture make this product stand out in the market of analytic software.”
Real-time, Point-of-Work Delivery
With critical KPIs, metrics, dashboards, and reports finally available to a broad audience within the enterprise, the next step is to make everywhere in real time.
The Informatica Analytics Delivery Platform provides access via Web, wireless and voice recognition interfaces. Threshold and time-based alerts provide notification to any device. Multi-modal access allows information to be requested via one device for delivery to another device. This allows users to “remote print” to any fax machine information that may be too cumbersome to be read on a small form-factor mobile device or listened to via a speech recognition interface.
Fully Integrated Platform
Tightly integrated with the world-standard Informatica PowerCenter enterprise data integration platform, the analytics delivery server allows for seamless metadata synchronization, rapid implementation and low total cost of ownership.
Informatica Analytics Server is a single server that generates device-specific, thin-client interfaces for Web, wireless and voice recognition, as well as full Web-based administration to eliminate the need for costly installation, upgrade and maintenance. Collaboration is supported with the highest levels of data safety. The server is compatible with enterprise authentication tools (LDAP, Windows NT Domain), and features enhancements to data transport-level security including industry standard data encryption technologies (SSL, WTLS). There is also embedded connectivity to enterprise communication tools (MS Exchange, Lotus Notes, IMAP4, LDAP).
Open, Scalable Architecture
Built on a J2EE (Java 2 Enterprise Edition) infrastructure, the Informatica Analytics Server achieves high availability through clustering and load balancing to ensure enterprise scalability and reliability. In addition, the J2EE implementation supports all leading database platforms and operating systems. The current version supports BEA WebLogic. Support for IBM WebSphere and Sun iPlanet Web Server is planned for early 2002.
Availability and Pricing
Available immediately, the Informatica Analytics Server is provided on a banded, server-based license, which enables affordable broad-scale deployment. Pricing starts at $140,000 for a 2-4 CPU server running UNIX.
