TIBCO SOFTWARE CEO TO DELIVER KEYNOTE SPEECH ON REAL-TIME TECHNOLOGY AT INFORMATICA WORLD 2001

TIBCO & Informatica to Demo Real-Time, Event-Driven Analytics Capabilities - Latency of Information a Problem of the Past

PALO ALTO, October 24, 2001 - Vivek Ranadivé, chairman and CEO of TIBCO Software Inc. (NASDAQ: TIBX), will be the keynote speaker at the Informatica World 2001 user conference this week in San Francisco. Speaking today at 11:00 AM, Ranadivé will deliver a speech entitled “Real Time Analytics and the Event Driven Enterprise.” Throughout the show, TIBCO will demonstrate the solution they have collaboratively developed with Informatica to deliver the only real-time analytics capabilities to enterprise customers via TIBCO ActivePortalTM, TIBCO's suite of enterprise portal products.

Ranadivé is the author of best selling book The Power of Now: How Winning Companies Sense and Respond to Change Using Real-time Technology, which outlines how companies use real-time information to anticipate and instantly respond to ever-changing opportunities and new business conditions. The Power of Now champions the creation of “event-driven” companies that recognize and respond to real-time information about customers, markets and business opportunities. By leveraging integrated, real-time, active information delivery systems, corporations enable swift, creative responses across the enterprise.

TIBCO is the leading provider of business integration solutions, pioneering the digitization of Wall Street and later the energy, telecommunications and high tech manufacturing markets.

In his keynote discussion, Ranadivé will elaborate on the evolution of enterprise data needs from a batch-driven model, where data is updated and integrated throughout the enterprise in batches, to a place where speed is essential to remaining competitive and up-to-the-minute data is critical. The partnership between TIBCO and Informatica was forged to meet this need. To deliver real-time analytics, streams of real-time data from TIBCO's Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) infrastructure software are captured and integrated with historical and analytic data through the Informatica PowerCenter data integration platform. In this way, information from across the distributed enterprise is immediately delivered to relevant applications and people enabling immediate responses.

Real-time analytics are a key component of TIBCO's enterprise portal strategy. With the integration of the Informatica Analytics Delivery Platform with the TIBCO ActivePortal platform, employees, customers, vendors and business partners can have visibility to critical corporate data, such as inventory, sales data and customer service information, anytime, anywhere.

“Working with TIBCO, we will provide our customers with the best possible real-time business metrics across a wide range of business applications,” said Gaurav Dhillon, CEO for Informatica. “We are honored to have Vivek as a keynote speaker. His comprehensive knowledge on the subject of real-time technologies is unequaled and his expertise speaks directly to Informatica World's 2001 theme of 'Powering Business Insight' through the consolidation of data into a single source that can be transformed into business insight.”

“The value of our partnership with Informatica to develop real-time analytics will be realized by customers, suppliers, partners and employees alike,” said Ranadivé. “The leading companies of the future will be those that can harness real-time, user-specific information and make intelligent business decisions to meet the needs of their customers.”
