INFORMATICA ANNOUNCES BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE CERTIFICATION PROGRAM

Actuate, Brio, Business Objects, Cognos and MicroStrategy are first to apply for certification on Informatica enterprise analytic solution

SAN FRANCISCO, Informatica World 2001, Oct. 24, 2001 — Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ:INFA), the leading provider of enterprise analytic software, today announced a new certification program designed to leverage customer investment in business intelligence tools for ad hoc query and reporting requirements.  With testing to be completed by early 2002, the Informatica Business Intelligence Certification Program will continue to maintain an open architecture for Informatica technology and ensure that the business intelligence tools are compatible with Informatica’s new enterprise analytic solutions.

The certification program has two components.

    • For enterprise data warehouses, Informatica will certify business intelligence tools to be compatible with the latest version of the Informatica Metadata Exchange application programming interface (API).  Business intelligence tools from Actuate will join those from Brio, Business Objects, Cognos and MicroStrategy, which have already been certified.  Support for the API assures customers continued interoperability between BI tools and data warehouses built on the world-standard Informatica PowerCenter 5 enterprise data integration platform.

    • For enterprise analytics, Informatica will certify business intelligence tools from Actuate, Brio, Business Objects, Cognos and MicroStrategy to support specific ad hoc query and reporting needs of power users at organizations deploying the newly announced Informatica Applications 5.

“Our promise to our customers is to deliver a completely integrated but open solution to meet their growing analytic needs,” said Diaz Nesamoney, president and COO, Informatica. “As we just announced, we believe the true value of enterprise analytics lies in automating everyday decision making with a user interface that is easy to use and personalize and that can be broadly deployed across an extended enterprise.

“We also recognize that customers have existing investments in business intelligence tools as specialized, ‘power user’ features for complex ad hoc query and reporting needs.  This certification program gives our customers an opportunity to preserve that prior investment and an assurance of openness and flexibility to deploy the most advantageous configuration moving forward.”

    Actuate Corporation
“As the Information Delivery market leader, Actuate is pleased to align itself with complementary enterprise analytic software such as Informatica Applications 5 and the Informatica Metadata Exchange API,” said Nobby Akiha, Actuate vice president of marketing.  “Actuate is unique in its ability to deliver valuable business information over the Web to thousands of users within and beyond the enterprise in the form of interactive Web pages and Excel spreadsheets.  Customers building advanced e-Business applications will benefit from tighter integration between the Actuate Information Delivery solution and Informatica products.”

    Brio Software
“As a long-time partner, Brio Software is pleased to continue supporting Informatica's open business intelligence (BI) initiative, working jointly to deliver best-of-breed solutions in the BI and analytical applications marketplace,” said Brian Gentile, Chief Marketing Officer at Brio Software. “The promise of analytical applications is unattainable without the insight provided by robust query and analysis tools such as Brio Intelligence. We look forward to helping our joint customers achieve breakthrough business performance through our continued participation in Informatica's Business Intelligence Certification Program.”

    Business Objects
“Business Objects is pleased to participate in Informatica’s Business Intelligence Certification Program,” said Mark Tice group vice president of global alliances for Business Objects. “We have been providing BI solutions for Informatica for years, and believe it is imperative to continuing delivering premium services and support to our joint customers moving forward.’

    Cognos
“Cognos was an early supporter of Informatica’s Metadata Exchange API, and we are pleased to once again be teaming with Informatica to ensure that our Business Intelligence solutions are compatible with Informatica’s new enterprise analytic solutions,” said Patrick O’Leary, Cognos vice president of strategic alliances. “Together, Cognos and Informatica reduce the overall complexity of building and maintaining the data warehouse – increasing overall business performance and providing customers with the benefits of dependable and accurate metadata in a single, unified, end-to-end business intelligence solution with the widest range of reporting and analysis.”

    MicroStrategy Incorporated
“We are pleased to continue working with Informatica to provide its users with the Scalable Business Intelligence Platform Built for the Internet,” said Brian Reitenauer, vice president of strategic partnerships at MicroStrategy Incorporated.  “Having already been certified on the Informatica Metadata Exchange API, MicroStrategy has allied with Informatica to enable customers to gain a better understanding of their business problems.  Our joint solution allows customers to quickly deploy applications that increase productivity and efficiency and enhance customer relations.”
