Available at the Informatica customer portal, Informatica Methodology helps customers speed and simplify their analytics implementations

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Feb. 25, 2002 - Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ: INFA), the leading provider of enterprise analytics software, today introduced the newest release of Informatica Methodology, the company's best-practices methodology for rapidly designing, deploying and managing analytic solutions. Built upon the experience gained by Informatica Professional Services through its customer implementations, the enhanced methodology provides Informatica customers with a proven process for deploying scalable, high-performance analytics solutions.

“When we first released Informatica Methodology as a best-practices guide in 1999, we committed to customers that we would use it as a mechanism to channel the wealth of experience we gained from other successful analytics implementations to their projects,” said Tim Dilley, senior vice president of professional services at Informatica. “The latest release of Informatica Methodology continues to fulfill this promise, helping our customers reduce their project risk and speed time to results.”

The Informatica Methodology, previously known as Informatica Velocity Methodology, is now available exclusively online via the Informatica customer portal. It contains over 30 new and updated best practices that customers can follow to speed and simplify their implementations, including data cleansing, session and data partitioning, daily operations and data connectivity.

“By using Informatica Methodology, our in-house IT team has been able to focus quickly on the phases and tasks that are most meaningful to us, gain rapid insights into specific roles and deliverables, and easily visualize and plan our next implementation steps,” said John Gonzales, manager data quality, enterprise data management, Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A., Inc. “Informatica Methodology has been instrumental in helping us develop our Informatica-based analytic implementation quickly and easily.”

Informatica Methodology codifies the collective experience of many Informatica global consultants and customers to help companies reduce the risks inherent in analytic projects. The methodology includes six major implementation phases (Manage, Architect, Design, Build, Deploy and Operate), 23 major tasks and more than 60 sub-tasks, each with its own clearly delineated prerequisites, project roles, considerations and deliverables. Along with providing a comprehensive task structure, the newly extended methodology incorporates a total of 45 best practices drawn from field experiences as well as specific tips and techniques.

Informatica Methodology is now available to Informatica customers through the Informatica customer portal. For more information, please visit the Informatica Web site at http://www.informatica.com/services/Methodology or call 1-800-653-3871.
