INFORMATICA LAUNCHES ASCENTIAL TRADE-UP PROGRAM

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., April 15, 2002 - Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ: INFA) today announced a “trade-up” program that offers Ascential customers in North America the opportunity to replace DataStage and other Ascential products acquired from companies including Torrent, Vality, Metagenix, Dovetail, Unidata and Prism, with Informatica's market-leading data integration software. Per the terms of the program, Informatica will credit Ascential customers up to 100% of the amount they paid for their Ascential software, subject to certain pricing limitations prescribed by law.

In today's business environment, companies can't risk trying to cobble together an analytic solution from a variety of products. The Informatica Data Integration Platform provides a fully integrated, scalable architecture designed to deliver the lowest total cost of ownership to meet the demanding requirements of all companies, from global enterprises to new businesses. And the Informatica Data Integration Platform can usually be implemented in weeks versus months, further reducing the costs of deployment and helping to provide a faster return on investment.

“This trade-up program reinforces our long-term commitment to the enterprise data integration market - a market we have led with technology innovation and product superiority since 1996,” said Kyle Bowker, executive vice president of worldwide field operations, Informatica. “We believe this is an offer Ascential customers can't afford to pass up.”

Industry analyst firm Giga Information Group recently named Informatica the market share leader in the data integration market. In its March report, “Market Overview Update: ETL,” Giga estimates Informatica's 2001 market share at 18 percent, while market share for Ascential decreased from 17 percent in 2000 to 12 percent in 2001.

“We are so confident in the superiority of Informatica's data integration solution that we are willing to replace Ascential technology with Informatica technology, so customers can experience for themselves why more than 60 percent of the Fortune 100 have already chosen Informatica,” said Bowker.

With connectivity to virtually all data sources and the ability to interchange and integrate data across a wide area network or the Internet, the Informatica Data Integration Platform is the foundation for comprehensive business analytic solutions within the enterprise and beyond company walls. The Informatica Data Integration Platform supports the widest range of critical data sources such as ERP, CRM, SCM, EAI, XML, relational, legacy and clickstream.
