TOP ANALYST FIRM PLACES INFORMATICA IN “LEADER” QUADRANT FOR ETL MARKET
REDWOOD CITY, Calif., May 14, 2002 - Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ: INFA), the leading provider of business analytics software, today announced that Gartner has placed Informatica in the “Leaders” quadrant in the May 6 report, “ETL Magic Quadrant Update: A Market in Evolution.” (See http://www.gartner.com/reprints/informatica/106602.html for the full report.) According to Gartner, “Leaders” are vendors that are performing well today, have a clear vision of market direction, and are actively building competencies to sustain their leadership position in the market.*
“Given that Gartner is by far the top analyst firm covering the technology space today, the group's recognition of Informatica in the leader quadrant in extraction, transformation and loading tools market is a significant honor,” said Diaz Nesamoney, president and COO of Informatica. “We take pride in the fact that the Informatica Data Integration Platform continues to gain momentum as a global standard for enterprise data integration with continued recognition from analysts, industry awards and strong customer adoption.”
“In positioning vendors in this updated version of the ETL Magic Quadrant, we emphasize vendor viability, alliances, pricing models and key product/functional criteria,” said the Gartner report. “Furthermore, the vendors' plans and ability (both demonstrated and perceived) to address key trends in data integration (such as real-time requirements, increasing complexity of integration scenarios and massive data volumes) factor heavily in the placement.”
The Informatica Data Integration Platform is the proven standard infrastructure for enterprise and departmental data integration, with connectivity to virtually all data sources and the ability to interchange and integrate data across a wide area network or the Internet. Comprised of the flagship Informatica PowerCenter software product as well as expanded connectivity solutions that extend even across firewalls, the Informatica Data Integration Platform helps companies integrate and analyze data from virtually any corporate system, including ERP, CRM, supply chain, procurement, EAI, mainframe and legacy systems. The Magic Quadrant is Gartner's opinion and is an analytical representation of a marketplace at and for a specific time period. It measures vendors against Gartner-defined criteria for a marketplace. The positioning of vendors within a Magic Quadrant is based on the complex interplay of many factors. Gartner does not advise enterprises to select only those firms in the Leaders segment. In some situations, firms in the Visionary, Challenger, or Niche Player segments may be the right match for an enterprise's requirements. Well-informed vendor selection decisions should rely on more than a Magic Quadrant.
