INFORMATICA POWERCENTER IMPLEMENTATION AT BAX GLOBAL WINS CMP MEDIA'S 2002 REALWARE AWARD

Prestigious award recognizes Informatica data integration software for producing measurable business results

”REDWOOD CITY, Calif., July 9, 2002 - Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ: INFA), the leading provider of business analytics software, today announced that BAX Global's successful implementation of the Informatica data integration platform has received the 2002 RealWare Award. Sponsored by CMP Media's Intelligent Enterprise and Transform magazines, the RealWare Awards recognize innovative uses of information technology in the enterprise that produce measurable business advantages. BAX Global and Informatica received the Special Merit Award in Enterprise Data Integration for Customer Intelligence.

A leading global transportation and supply chain management company, BAX Global implemented Informatica PowerCenter to integrate customer and sales activity across its North American Division, including Canada and Mexico. PowerCenter is considered an integral component of the company's business intelligence strategy to further leverage its strong customer base for increased sales.

BAX Global's data warehouse has provided decision makers with a global view of the business through one, easy-to-understand interface, allowing them to conduct their own analysis without the help of a dedicated technical staff. The company's executive management team has come to rely on the data warehouse to help make critical and tactical business decisions about scheduling, fleet-capacity planning, the evaluation of new product opportunities, the modification of sales targets and forecasts, product profitability and customer performance.

“While BAX Global attempted to establish a methodology for measuring ROI for the data warehouse, it quickly became clear that the many soft benefits -- such as customer intelligence, quality data, timely reports and broad user access -- are not easy to measure in dollars,” said David Minns, manager data warehouse at BAX Global. “They are valued by BAX Global, however, as priceless.”

Entries were reviewed in six pre-defined categories by teams of recognized industry editors and analysts who served as judges. The entries were judged on the innovative use of technology, and the degree of business impact, as well as factors specific to each category.
