COTTON STATES INSURANCE COMPANY IMPROVES CUSTOMER SERVICE USING INFORMATICA DATA INTEGRATION SOFTWARE
Informatica PowerCenter helps insurance carrier gain “single view of customer” to better analyze claims, premiums and policies for increased market responsiveness
REDWOOD CITY, Calif., July 1, 2003 - Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ: INFA), the leading provider of business analytics software, today announced that Atlanta-based Cotton States Insurance Company has successfully implemented the Informatica PowerCenter data integration platform to enhance its customer-analysis capabilities by providing information to internal users more quickly. With Informatica, Cotton States has consolidated claims and policy data across four Southern states-Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee and northern Florida-from three major systems to gain a more comprehensive view of every customer.
“In our continuing quest to better serve our internal stakeholders, we found that it was critical to gain a more comprehensive view of our customers in an enterprise data warehouse. To this end, Informatica played a critical role in our company's data migration from a mainframe to a customer-centric data warehouse,” said Ben Bullock, project manager at Cotton States Insurance. “For the first time, our business now has the ability to analyze and compare profit and loss across myriad business perspectives. By analyzing more comprehensive claim history, we've already gleaned some surprising insight. In particular, Informatica's technology has helped us tremendously in understanding the historical value of our customers and allowing us to better meet their needs.”
Informatica PowerCenter was selected to help migrate the company's policy and claims data from a mainframe to a client/server environment, and create a single enterprise data warehouse. As a result of the Informatica solution, internal Cotton States Insurance stakeholders, such as management, agents and brokers, can have faster access to a more comprehensive and consistent view of data to better assist customers with their insurance needs. Cotton States' new data integration architecture also supports critical marketing and underwriting decisions such as policy rating, product strategy, and agent and broker performance based on the dynamics of time and geography, as well as accounting and claims-management decisions.
“Using Informatica's data integration capabilities, Cotton States Insurance can continue helping generations of families find the insurance coverage that works best for their particular needs,” said Sanjay Poonen, senior vice president of worldwide marketing at Informatica. “With Informatica PowerCenter, Cotton States is continuing its tradition of dependability and service by more quickly responding to customers' needs while simultaneously improving operational efficiencies. This is yet another example of our customers' propensity to use Informatica PowerCenter as an enterprise data integration platform - for both analytic needs such as data warehousing, and operational needs such as data migration.”
