INFORMATICA NAMES CARL J. YANKOWSKI TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Former CEO of Palm brings extensive brand-building expertise to Informatica

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., July 17, 2003 - Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ: INFA), the leading provider of data integration and business intelligence software, today announced that Carl J. Yankowski has been appointed to Informatica's board of directors.

Currently a partner at Westerham Associates in Dover, Mass., and chairman and CEO of CRF Box, a leading pharmaceutical e-clinical drug trials company, Yankowski previously served as CEO of Palm, Inc. from 1999 to 2001. During his tenure, the company tripled to $1.5 billion in sales while establishing Palm as a household name. Prior to Palm, Yankowski was CEO of the multi-billion dollar Reebok Brand at Reebok International. Before that, he was president and COO at Sony Electronics, Inc. where his team built U.S. revenues from over $6 billion to more than $10 billion in four years, surpassing Japan.

Prior to Sony, Yankowski served as chairman of Polaroid Corporation's Asia-Pacific region and was also instrumental in the creation of Polaroid's Business Imaging Division, which grew to $700 million. Earlier he held president and CEO positions of various divisions of Cadbury Schweppes in the U.K., and directed marketing operations for General Electric Housewares, and the two largest divisions of the Pepsi-Cola Company.

Yankowski received simultaneous degrees in electrical engineering and management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), holds several high-tech patents, and serves on the boards of directors of Avidyne (high tech avionics), the Boston College Carroll School of Business, and the MIT Sloan School. He is also a member of the Visiting Committee of the MIT Media Lab.
