INFORMATICA NAMED ONE OF TOP “10 MOST INFLUENTIAL” COMPANIES BY COMPUTER BUSINESS REVIEW
Informatica recognized in data integration and application development category alongside industry heavyweights such as Sun, IBM and Microsoft
REDWOOD CITY, Calif., July 21, 2003 - Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ: INFA), a leading provider of data integration and business intelligence software, today announced that it was selected by Computer Business Review (CBR) as one of the 10 Most Influential companies in integration and application development. Vendors selected for the list are those that CBR editors believe will have a “lasting influence on their particular sector” and that “balance technology and vision with financials and executive leadership.” Ranked number seven, the vendors preceding Informatica on the list are Microsoft, IBM, BEA, Oracle, Borland and Sun.
According to the article, Informatica was among the first to move from integration point products to an integrated suite. “Its strength in areas from data synchronization to extract, transform and load (ETL) means that its suite packs a punch.”
“Informatica has emerged as an acknowledged market share leader in data integration software. Its PowerCenter platform has established itself as a de facto ETL platform for data warehousing and a favorite embedded data integration function within leading packaged applications,” said Madan Sheina, principal analyst, Computerwire. “Also, the company's efforts in real-time data integration and its ability to forge partnerships with other integration giants - such as webMethods - should keep the company one step ahead of its nearest rivals for some time yet.”
Published in July of 2003, the CBR's 10 Most Influential list also recognized Informatica partner webMethods. According to the CBR 10th Anniversary Yearbook, 2003: “Via a partnership with Informatica, webMethods has taken its application and process integration technology to a new level, combining it with Informatica's data integration and analysis products to produce a Business Activity Platform.”
“In consolidating application development and data integration leaders into a single list, CBR is highlighting the foundational role of data integration in today's information infrastructures,” said Sanjay Poonen, senior vice president of worldwide marketing at Informatica. “With integration and visibility becoming top priorities for CIOs, Informatica is focused more strongly than ever on driving advances in data integration and furthering our leadership in this sector, and is honored to be ranked in the top ten among such prestigious company.”
