INFORMATICA JOINS WEB SERVICES INTEROPERABILITY ORGANIZATION

Will lend expertise as the market's leading data integration vendor to help promote Web services interoperability

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., November 11, 2003 - To help promote industry-wide compatibility among Web services, Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ: INFA) today announced it has joined the Web Services Interoperability Organization (WS-I). WS-I is an open industry organization chartered to promote Web services interoperability across platforms, operating systems and programming languages. Through its membership, Informatica will further extend its Web services-oriented architecture, helping customers and partners establish complete interoperability between their Informatica software implementations and other enterprise applications.

“Informatica's Web services-oriented architecture for data integration and business intelligence supports our partners' and customers' vision of using standards to drive extensibility and interoperability, speeding development and overall industry adoption for greater business responsiveness and adaptability,” said Sanjay Poonen, senior vice president of worldwide marketing for Informatica. “Our participation in WS-I will help extend interoperability for Informatica's platform even further - enabling our customers and partners to more easily build their own value-added solutions on top of Informatica's entire product family.”

Web services allow companies to bridge communications gaps-between software written in different programming languages, developed by different vendors or running on different operating systems. Data integration and business intelligence solutions that support Web services can provide interfaces that facilitate connectivity between applications and processes, allowing for extended integration and insight.

“The goal of true interoperability can only be achieved with the participation of companies from a diverse set of industries,” said Tom Glover, chair of WS-I. “We are pleased that Informatica has become a member of WS-I. Informatica's participation will help ensure that the deliverables WS-I produces will meet the real-world interoperability needs of businesses.”

Web services support is a critical component of Informatica's service-oriented architecture approach to data integration and business intelligence. Informatica supports Web services across its entire product family-including the PowerCenter data integration platform, PowerAnalyzer business intelligence software and the SuperGlue metadata management solution.
