Fifth-annual awards highlight considerable results generated by
Informatica-powered solutions

INFORMATICA WORLD 2004, Edinburgh, May 7, 2004—Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ: INFA), a leading provider of data integration software, today presented the 2004 Informatica Insight Awards to customers that have successfully leveraged a variety of data integration solutions to help reduce costs, improve business performance and achieve a competitive advantage. Representatives from CNA Financial, Hong Kong Hospital Authority, Israel Defense Forces, Prudential plc, Seagate Technology and StarHub Pte Ltd. received their awards on stage from Informatica president and CEO Gaurav Dhillon at Informatica's annual user conference in Edinburgh, Scotland.

"This year's Insight Award winners are succeeding at a wide variety of data integration initiatives - from Integration Competency Centers, to data migration and synchronization, to near real-time data warehousing," said Dhillon. "We are pleased to be helping these innovative organizations drive key strategic initiatives and achieve strong ROI using Informatica's market-leading data integration platform."

The winners of the Informatica Insight Award for 2004 are:

  • Integration Competency Center (ICC): CNA Financial Corporation
CNA, the fourth-largest commercial insurance writer in the U.S., established an ICC to assist in centralizing its broad data integration efforts and promoting best practices in technology standards across its enterprise. The company's ICC now supports numerous data integration projects that have helped decrease IT costs, improve customer service and create new applications, including a six-terabyte data warehouse with data migration efforts powered by Informatica's PowerCenter data integration platform and PowerExchange mainframe connectivity software.
  • Mainframe Data Integration: Prudential plc and Wipro
Prudential, an insurance and financial services provider based in London, used PowerCenter to help improve customer satisfaction and call center productivity, while reducing call volumes and costs through an operational customer database. Prudential partnered with Wipro for systems integration services to help the company leverage Informatica's unique Changed Data Capture technology within Informatica PowerExchange - enabling Prudential to rapidly load data on over eight million customers from its legacy mainframe systems. Prudential's customer database supports its broader customer service transformation program, which has an expected ROI of $12 to $20 million per year between 2005 and 2010.
  • Data Migration and Synchronization: Israel Defense Forces Technology and Logistics Branch (IDF TLB) and Aman Computers
The IDF TLB, which runs the Israeli Army's logistics planning and operations, implemented PowerCenter and PowerCenter Connect for SAP to help reduce costs and inventory levels, and improve supply chain efficiencies by migrating its extensive logistics data from disparate mainframe legacy systems to a new, mission-critical SAP system for a comprehensive view of all logistics data. In addition, the IDF TLB has successfully used PowerCenter to synchronize SAP data with its logistics data warehouse, as well as with the legacy systems that it continues to use.
  • Single Customer View: Hong Kong Hospital Authority
The Hong Kong Hospital Authority, a statutory body that manages all public hospitals in Hong Kong and serves 93 percent of the island's secondary health needs, established a single view of cross-system patient data using PowerCenter as the foundation of its data warehouse to support front-line clinical care - helping the organization reduce costs, increase efficiencies, and more quickly and proactively respond to health threats. During the SARS outbreak, this solution allowed the Hospital Authority to share crucial patient information with the Hong Kong Department of Health, Police Department and university in near real-time.
  • Enterprise Data Warehousing: StarHub Pte Ltd. and Knowledge Dynamics
StarHub, one of Singapore's largest communications companies, implemented Informatica's data integration platform to help increase revenues through faster marketing-campaign analysis and improved collections, while improving customer retention within a competitive industry. StarHub's four-terabyte enterprise data warehouse helps it measure metrics such as customer acquisitions, usage, average revenue per user (ARPU), churn and valuation.
  • Visibility: Seagate Technology
Seagate, a worldwide leader in the design, manufacture and marketing of hard disc drives, implemented PowerCenter and the PowerAnalyzer business intelligence software to help increase internal customer satisfaction and enhance the ROI of training initiatives through reduced costs, improved efficiencies and increased data quality and timeliness. Using PowerCenter, Seagate integrated a variety of internal and outsourced human resources data sources for the company's end-to-end HR data warehouse. Seagate used PowerAnalyzer to enable truly global and easy HR information access. Seagate HR is using the visibility solution to support its transition to a metrics- and performance management-driven organization based on Six Sigma methodology.
