Informatica Developer Network Jumps to Over 14,000 Members in 90 Countries

Industry-unique community extends customer value by fostering valuable third-party and customer-developed add-on solutions

INFORMATICA WORLD 2004, Edinburgh, May 7, 2004—Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ: INFA), a leading provider of data integration software, today announced a 40-percent increase in membership to its Informatica Developer Network program (http://devnet.informatica.com) over the past six months—bringing total membership to more than 14,000. During the same period, the number of countries represented jumped by more than 12 percent to 90 nations, as an increasing number of developers tapped into the fastest-growing and largest online community in the data integration industry to create valuable customer solutions and share technical knowledge worldwide.

Cited by analysts as a significant competitive differentiator, the Informatica Developer Network is entirely Web-based with interactive forums, hosted Web seminars, sample code and a rigorous product certification program to aid developers in successfully leveraging the Informatica architecture.

"Initiated in April of 2001 as a grass-roots movement, the Informatica Developer Network has resulted in a strong development community that creates and promotes high-value, add-on solutions for Informatica customers," said Girish Pancha, executive vice president of products at Informatica. "The ecosystem is growing at an amazing pace, with approximately 600 new members joining each month and a proportionate increase in the ability of Informatica customers to benefit from a truly global resource and talent base."

The Informatica Developer Network has helped enable the development of over three dozen commercial solutions and numerous customer-developed solutions, many of which have played major roles in the success of complex data integration and business visibility projects. Moreover, as membership has spread geographically, it has supported the trend of creating international development teams spread across diverse geographies.

"The Informatica Developer Network greatly expands the potential for customer success by fostering the development of superior add-on products and aligning customers with solutions providers," said Jacob Gow, architecture manager at Barclaycard, a leading issuer of payment cards in the U.K.  "The PowerCenter Connect for SAS, which was developed by Developer Network partner The Bridgers and purchased from Informatica, is a critical component of our Informatica implementation, helping us to seamlessly integrate SAS data with other types of data using Informatica PowerCenter."

Sixty-five percent of Informatica Developer Network members are customers and technology partners, with the balance consisting largely of independent developers, consultants, system integrators and academics. Membership is open to both large and small partners and developers, with special resources designed to help cultivate and promote the work of smaller third-party providers—and in-house development staffs—as readily as it does the output of larger solutions providers.

"As a leading ISV outsourcing firm expanding into the solutions provider space, we are finding that the Informatica Developer Network greatly facilitates collaboration between us and Informatica, providing a level of exposure to customers we would otherwise not be able to enjoy," said Naren Nath, executive vice president of sales and marketing at Persistent Systems. "Hence we are better equipped to understand customer requirements, leading to more quickly developed and better focused products that provide more value to customers."

The Informatica Developer Network consists of several membership levels, including free registration to participate in discussion forums and view select areas of the site. Full-access membership is available at no charge to Informatica customers and partners. For further membership information, visit http://devnet.informatica.com/member/about.asp.
