Informatica Joins The Integration Consortium To Help Broadly Define The Role Of Enterprise Data Integration
Data integration leader to help companies meet today’s “total integration imperative”
REDWOOD CITY, Calif,
June 2, 2004—Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ: INFA), a leading provider of data integration software, today announced it is the first data integration solution provider to join the Integration Consortium (IC), a non-profit global advocacy group of users, academics and solutions providers dedicated to driving measurable business value from enterprise integration activities. Informatica will leverage its membership to help simplify and extend a company’s interaction with data regardless of the applications, tools and technologies already in place.
“We see the Integration Consortium as spearheading a new holistic approach to today’s enterprise integration imperative, an approach where data integration, application integration, and other integration techniques all come together to deliver value,” said James Markarian, chief technology officer and senior vice president at Informatica. “Through its participation in the IC, Informatica can drive the standardization of data integration efforts with Universal Data Services, enabling customers, partners and third-party developers to implement a flexible, unified approach for consistent processing and management of data.”
A Universal Data Services architecture enables shared data services for access, integration, visualization and auditing to come together on an as-needed basis, allowing for a broad range of data-centric projects for data warehousing and beyond. The shared services model of data integration provides organizations with an enterprise-level approach to deliver data consistency across multiple integration initiatives, such as business activity monitoring (BAM), enterprise systems consolidation, data quality and data migration and synchronization.
“In today's challenging IT environment, data integration plays an integral role in unifying data across processes, systems and users,” said Michael Kuhbock, co-chairman and founder of the Integration Consortium. “As the first data integration solution provider within the Integration Consortium, Informatica’s expertise and vision will help guide consortium initiatives and ensure that enterprise integration solutions and activities address the full spectrum of integration requirements.”
