Appoints seasoned industry executive to lead Informatica KK, will further strengthen sales and customer support
TOKYO and REDWOOD CITY, Calif,
June 9, 2004—Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ: INFA), a leading provider of data integration software, today announced it has launched a Japanese subsidiary to help expand its reach into the world’s second-largest economy, where over 100 customers currently use Informatica’s data integration software. The company has hired Takemi Hojo to act as representative director of Informatica KK. Hojo brings more than 20 years of technology sales and marketing experience to Informatica KK.
As representative director, Hojo will lead the rapid expansion of Informatica in Japan, further developing its sales management and customer support infrastructure. Hojo will also focus on deepening and expanding Informatica’s partnerships with key software vendors, implementation partners and resellers in Japan. Hojo brings extensive experience in international sales, marketing and strategic alliances to Informatica KK. Formerly general manager of Ascential Japan, Hojo also held general management and sales positions at Crystal Decisions Japan, Apple Computer Japan, and Digital Equipment Corporation in Japan.
“Informatica is entering its next phase of growth in Japan,” said Hojo. “Data integration solutions are clearly entering the mainstream in Japan, our partnerships are solid and continue to expand, and we have increased our sales and customer support capacity. We have already accomplished significant traction in Japan with our strategic partner, Mitsubishi, and are now very well positioned to continue and expand upon our success in this key market.”
Informatica has had a strong presence in Japan since 1999 through a strategic partnership with Mitsubishi Denki Information Technology Inc. (MDIT), an affiliate of Mitsubishi Electric. Working with Informatica, MDIT has localized Informatica’s software for the Japanese market, and provided customer support, consulting, and education services. MDIT has a track record of successfully leading numerous large-scale projects for Informatica in Japan.
Informatica will continue to work closely with MDIT, as it expands its support for Informatica products and customers with additional Informatica-certified consultants, technical support capabilities, and engineering resources for localization, testing, and quality assurance for Informatica’s PowerCenter 7 data integration software.
“We expect Informatica KK under the leadership of Mr. Hojo to have a dramatic impact on the local market. We have built a customer base of more than 100 leading Japanese companies, and have built up extensive experience and knowledge through our engagements in their projects,” said Hitoshi Nomura, president of MDIT. “We will continue to provide Informatica with localization services, customer support, and deep consulting experience, and we will serve customers by working closely with our system integration partners. We look forward to further building the data integration market in Japan with Informatica’s continued investment and support.”
Informatica KK will also be announcing new partnership agreements in the coming months, while leveraging existing global alliances with companies such as Accenture, BearingPoint, HP, i2, IBM, Sun and webMethods in Japan.
