Informatica Joins Leading Outsourcing Association
SBPOA membership highlights growing importance of data integration to outsourcing and shared services initiatives
REDWOOD CITY, Calif.,
July 25, 2005—Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ: INFA), a leading provider of enterprise data integration software, today announced it has joined the Shared Services and Business Process Outsourcing Association (SBPOA), the only independent and global body for business transformation. The first data integration vendor to join the SPBOA, Informatica’s membership underscores the increasing importance of data integration technology in managing the complexity of cross-enterprise data fragmentation, bringing lower costs, enhanced visibility and active controls to business process outsourcing.
“We welcome Informatica to the SBPOA and applaud its leadership in applying cross-enterprise data integration technology to the increasingly complex world of business process outsourcing,” said Andrew Kris, chairman of the SBPOA. “The importance of core business processes now being outsourced, combined with new regulatory demands, makes it imperative that data be integrated, moved and managed across corporate firewalls in an efficient, auditable and secure fashion. Informatica’s expertise in this area will be an invaluable resource to SBPOA members.”
“Business process outsourcing significantly raises the integration stakes by requiring that companies engage in robust yet flexible cross-enterprise data integration,” said Ron Papas, senior vice president of business development at Informatica. “The burden is as much on outsourcing service providers as it is on their customers to put in place data integration architectures that inject visibility and manageability into the outsourcing process. We look forward to collaborating with the global membership of the SBPOA in making these architectures a reality.”
In a recent poll of Informatica customers, ninety-four percent said data integration is an increasingly critical technology as more companies maintain corporate data outside the firewall due to business process outsourcing. Designed for efficient bi-directional movement of large volumes of data, data integration technology streamlines the outsourcing process through broad data sourcing without hard-to-change custom coding and by enabling extensive reuse of programming objects such as data transformations. Data integration technology also encompasses the latest security technologies and enables them to be applied in a standardized fashion, and can provide the key visualization and analysis capabilities necessary to ensure data and process quality and to help drive compliance with regulatory mandates such as Sarbanes-Oxley.
The SBPOA is the leading, independent, global body for shared services and business process outsourcing, touching more than 250,000 professionals each year, including services providers and practitioners around the world. As a membership organization, the SBPOA provides online and offline networking, best practices and independent commentary on the evolution of shared services and business process outsourcing.
