Alverno Information Services Standardizes on Informatica for Data Integration
Major Midwest healthcare provider to leverage Informatica PowerCenter for business and clinical visibility across seven hospitals
REDWOOD CITY, Calif., October 24, 2006—Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ: INFA), a leading provider of data integration solutions, today announced that Alverno Information Systems, the IT division of the Sisters of St. Francis Health Services, Inc. (SSFHS), has selected the Informatica PowerCenter data integration platform to help power the organization’s enterprise data warehouse. PowerCenter will be used to consolidate financial and clinical data across SSFHS’ seven major Indiana- and Illinois-area hospitals to help improve patient care and reduce healthcare delivery costs.
“Informatica PowerCenter provides us with a scalable, open framework for better understanding the myriad aspects of our day-to-day business activities, enabling us to identify trends as they unfold so we can better serve our patients and control operating costs,” said Ron Specht, manager, Information Access Team, Alverno Information Services. “Following a competitive evaluation, we selected PowerCenter for the comprehensive range of capabilities we required, including fast codeless development, integrated data quality, efficient integration of huge volumes of data and robust restart and recovery that will help manage our complicated workflows.”
When fully deployed, PowerCenter will integrate data from more than 30 hospital applications residing on a variety of disparate platforms located across 12 campuses, including patient registration and accounting, staffing, surgery scheduling and clinical nursing systems. The information consolidated by PowerCenter will be used by administrators in SSFHS’ various healthcare facilities, as well as by corporate officers and personnel, to engage in a broad range of analysis and discovery activities, including service-line analysis, diagnosis related group (DRG) analysis, and financial analysis and reporting.
Additionally, PowerCenter’s metadata management facilities will be leveraged to help ensure precise, consistent data delivery with clear audit trials to safeguard against noncompliance with patient privacy standards and other regulations.
“In order to positively impact patient care and organization profitability, healthcare delivery organizations like Alverno Information Services need effective ways to integrate all their data across all their operations,” said Brian Gentile, executive vice president and chief marketing officer of Informatica. “As an increasing number of healthcare organizations have discovered, the Informatica PowerCenter platform provides the complete set of enterprise data integration capabilities necessary to drive trusted and actionable views of healthcare data delivering improved patient satisfaction, more cost-effective operations and regulatory compliance.”
Informatica PowerCenter helps accelerate enterprise data integration initiatives, enabling enterprises to reduce IT costs and complexity, modernize systems and ensure a single, consistent enterprise-wide view of information for more effective decision-making. PowerCenter is also designed to access, transform and integrate data from a wide variety of enterprise systems to support the broadest range of data integration projects including: data warehousing, data migration, data consolidation, data synchronization and master data management. This allows: IT management to be more responsive to business demands for information despite dramatically increasing data volumes; IT developers to benefit from reduced time to results; and users to gain a holistic and consistent view of their enterprise information.
The Sisters of St. Francis Health Services, Inc. manages a network of seven major hospitals in Indiana and Illinois, along with several support companies for these facilities. Alverno Information Services is a division of the SSFHS, delivering healthcare information technology services for the corporation’s healthcare providers including hospitals, homecare organizations and reference labs.
