Informatica Launches Dedicated Healthcare Practice

Focuses on Delivering Data Integration and Data Quality Solutions Across the Healthcare Value Chain

REDWOOD CITY, CALIF., June 1, 2010 - Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ: INFA), the world’s number one independent provider of enterprise data integration software, today announced the launch of its dedicated healthcare practice. This cross-company, multi-discipline team is focused on providing value-added solutions to help healthcare stakeholders, including payers, providers and patients, gain greater value from their data assets across the entire value chain – helping them deliver high quality and affordable healthcare.

The healthcare landscape is changing rapidly and it is hard to project exactly what it will look like in five years. It is clear that healthcare reform will mean a more competitive and consumer-focused market, which will impact the most core attributes of any delivery system: cost, revenue and quality. The end goal is to consistently improve health outcomes and quality of care. Electronic information will be everywhere and the mandate is to share it securely and effectively via electronic medical records (EMRs), health information exchanges, streamlined claims and benefits administration processes as well as increased quality reporting and transparency.

Effective information management and data exchange has gone from optional to a critical requirement. Informatica’s healthcare practice aligns Informatica resources across marketing, presales, sales, product development, support, strategic alliances and professional services to ensure solutions are focused on healthcare challenges. Providing a holistic approach, this accelerates time-to-market and time-to-value for solutions optimized to meet the data integration, data quality and data exchange demands of the healthcare industry and its many sectors. Additionally, the new practice will further expand Informatica’s partner ecosystem by working with healthcare innovators to coordinate valuable solution delivery.

“As the healthcare industry goes through a major transformation, one thing is abundantly clear, data will form the foundation building block for effective healthcare in the 21st century and Informatica will be critical to managing the cascade of change,” said Shekhar Iyer, senior vice president, Healthcare and Public Sector, Informatica. “Enabling transparency, building patient trust and loyalty and delivering technology solutions that lower cost and deliver the highest levels of quality care for our customers is our aim. The importance of data in healthcare has risen greatly this past year and Informatica provides the flexible and open information infrastructures to address the healthcare industries integration challenges today and for years to come.”

Informatica’s healthcare practice will deliver solutions based on the Informatica Platform, which is proven to handle the complex, high-volume data integration requirements found in healthcare environments. Below are a few examples of the solution areas that Informatica is focused on:

  • Accessing, profiling, and integrating data across disparate healthcare systems (ex. clinical, financial, research, revenue cycle for both payers and providers) and trading partners to provide consolidated views or data stores to assist in analytical or operational decision making or compliance reporting.
  • Providing Data Exchange solutions for intra-enterprise and external partners that cover a full spectrum of requirements, including: trading partner management, ‘any-to-any’ data format handling (HL7, HIPAA 4010/5010, NCPDP, PDF, Excel, proprietary formats, etc), event monitoring and tight integration with the Informatica Platform.  Allows customers to grow the value of their existing infrastructure and introduce data quality monitoring, patient/member/provider linking via registries, and actionable alerting as they grow.
  • Enabling business agility by understanding customers’ most important stakeholders: patients or members, trading partners and associations, facilities, etc.  By leveraging this master data approach, customers can adapt quickly as these relationships change over years.
  • Assisting in transition and modernization initiatives as core systems need to change, whether implementing a new EMR or Claims Administration system, facilitating a merger and acquisition, or simply scaling existing systems to serve more functions.
