Informatica World 2010, held November 2-5 in Washington D.C. and hosted by Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ: INFA), the world's number one independent provider of data integration software, attracted the largest ever audience of customers, partners, media, analysts and beyond.
The three-day conference outlined the future of data integration and highlighted how Informatica has advanced the frontier of data integration and data quality technology. Special keynote guest, Richard Clarke, former Senior White House Advisor, United States Counterterrorism Czar and best-selling author delivered a fascinating presentation on counter- and cyber-terrorism and what both private and public organizations should do to confront risks today.
During the opening keynote address, Sohaib Abbasi, Informatica's chairman and chief executive officer, discussed the company's vision which embraces five critical areas that demonstrate the power of data integration for the data-centric enterprise. Abbasi also touched on the evolution of business management where the data is about transactions to new streams of data growth, social data, where the data is about interactions. Today many companies are attempting to harness social data for their own brand management.
Industry luminary, Ron Swift, vice president of Cross-Industry Business Solutions, Teradata also delivered an insightful presentation on the need for people and enterprises to evolve - staying current, relevant and innovative. Swift also touched on the need for trusted data as we become overwhelmed with unstructured and structured data – known as 'Big Data'. Swift noted, "The boundaries are limitless as we enable business performance successes."
