Dutch Defense Ministry

To help its 70,000 military and civilian employees work smoothly together, the Ministry needed to migrate 70 separate legacy systems to a single SAP ERP application.

The Dutch Defense Ministry maintains peace and security in the Netherlands and conducts peacekeeping missions abroad through the army, air force, navy, and gendarmerie, as well as administrative, command service, and defense equipment staff. To help its 70,000 military and civilian employees work smoothly together, the Ministry needed to migrate 70 separate legacy systems to a single SAP ERP application.

Challenges

  • Support migration of 70 legacy systems to SAP
  • Evaluate the extent of data corruption
  • Support management reporting with reliable, current information
Migrated data needs to be usable in the new system, so we don't want it to be incomplete or of poor quality. Also, it's about migrating not from one system to another, but from 70 systems to one, and management needed a better idea of the extent to which data had become corrupted.
