MABE, a leading Mexican appliance manufacturer, transformed its fragmented regional data architecture into a unified, AI-ready ecosystem using Informatica Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC), Microsoft Azure and SAP. By implementing a connected data management strategy, MABE drives a 95% data quality score, speeds up data delivery with pre-built automations and avoids hundreds of thousands of dollars in costly errors with democratized access to trusted insights.
"As MABE’s data needs continue to grow, Informatica was clearly the most robust and comprehensive platform, enabling us to implement a whole data lifecycle, from creation to visualization, and pave the way for AI."

Unlocking AI potential in manufacturing data
Over the last few decades, MABE has grown from its Mexican roots to become a global force in home appliance manufacturing, producing and marketing products – such as stoves, refrigerators, washing machines and air conditioners – under their flagship name and licensed brand partners like GE Appliances. With manufacturing facilities in Mexico, Colombia and Ecuador – and a sales presence across Latin America, North America and international markets – MABE's operations generate massive amounts of data. Turning that data into insights is key to fueling company growth and superior customer satisfaction.
Historically, these data assets remained fragmented across regional architectures. Each country operated its own data systems, leading to data silos, inconsistencies in data management standards across regions and costly integration and maintenance. “There was a lot of manual work and many work sessions to identify that we were extracting the right information and master data classifications,” recalls Ricardo Rodríguez, Data Analytics and Governance leader at MABE.
In recent years, the company faced another fundamental challenge: how to prepare its data for the age of artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced analytics. "We needed to understand how to give AI and algorithms the business knowledge of our data," explains Rodríguez. "The theory says that for an algorithm, you have to pass on knowledge of what a SKU, what a customer and what other attributes mean in your company context. We needed a place to store and manage that knowledge so that it would complement our data warehouse."
To consolidate its regionalized infrastructures, MABE implemented SAP S/4HANA as their core enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. The team also established its first data warehouses to streamline business intelligence (BI) sharing across sales, logistics and finance. But they still needed a better way to ensure data quality, establish data governance frameworks and create a single source of truth across all business operations.
"Our new analytics architecture has three fundamental pieces: Microsoft, Informatica and SAP. The flexibility and connectivity of IDMC made it the perfect platform to join our ecosystem and create a holistic data catalog, which is crucial to future AI success."
Solutions for the entire data lifecycle
After evaluating several options in the market, MABE decided on Informatica Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC). The team also partnered with BD Consultores, a leader in the Latin American IT consulting market, to implement the solution. The choice wasn't just about technology capabilities but finding a comprehensive solution that could support MABE's entire data lifecycle.
"When we explored Informatica's features, we realized it had several powerful modules including ETL, golden record management, and data cataloging," says Rodríguez. "Informatica was clearly the most robust and comprehensive platform, enabling us to implement a whole data lifecycle, from creation to visualization, and pave the way for AI."
The IDMC implementation focused first on establishing a robust Data Catalog, complete with AI-powered metadata intelligence and context; then implementing automated Data Quality and Data Governance measures and using Data Integration with pre-built connectors to more seamlessly move data between systems.

The solution needed to integrate seamlessly with MABE's existing technology ecosystem, including SAP BW/4HANA data warehouse on the back-end, Mircrosoft Azure for reports and applications, Office 365 to process raw data and PowerBI for strategic dashboards and storytelling.
"Our new analytics architecture has three fundamental pieces: Microsoft, Informatica and SAP,” explains Rodríguez. “The flexibility and connectivity of IDMC made it the perfect platform to join our ecosystem and create a holistic data catalog, which is crucial to future AI success.”

Data quality saves six figures in error prevention
In a short time, the new solution has already had a profound business impact. In processes where IDMC has been implemented, average data quality scores rose from 80% to 95%. This improvement helps teams across the organizations not only make better decisions more quickly but also avoid bad data leading them to the wrong decisions and costly mistakes.
“Throughout the project, we found cases of potential risk in teams being misled by data,” Rodríguez notes. "We discovered instances where warehouse stock was incorrectly classified, or products were misidentified as finished goods instead of raw materials. These insights enabled by IDMC helped prevent incorrect business decisions involving hundreds of thousands of dollars.”
Informatica has also transformed how MABE's employees interact with data, significantly boosting productivity. IDMC user-friendly Data Catalog speeds up data discovery and makes it easy to view context, policies and data lineage for each asset.
This centralized repository also promotes reusability with easy access to previously published analytical models.
As Rodríguez explains in an analogy he shared with business users: "With a great user interface like Informatica, it's like going to a library. Users can find what they need quickly without scheduling meetings or waiting for others. This makes our data scientists more productive and shortens the lifecycle of algorithm development and training."
Looking to the future of GenAI and MDM
Beyond daily operations, MABE’s transformation has established a foundation for digital innovation and AI initiatives. The company has established a strong framework for managing data quality, governance and metadata — critical components for successful AI deployment. With an integrated data management infrastructure in place, MABE is well-equipped to expand its AI initiatives, foster continuous innovation and easily adapt to evolving data management use cases.
MABE is exploring expanded use of Informatica capabilities, including Master Data Management (MDM) solutions for golden records and new Generative AI (GenAI) features. Business teams are already using CLAIRE® GPT natural language queries to streamline interactions with data. A user can simply ask, for example: “What was the sales volume of refrigerators in Ecuador during the last week of April?” and instantly receive an answer from verified data sources. “CLAIRE GPT helps us not only locate where information is, but also proactively gives us related examples and answers about the business,” says Rodríguez.

MABE's success offers valuable insights for other organizations embarking on similar transformations. Teams can overcome data reliability concerns by starting with a strong foundation of data governance, before moving to advanced analytics and AI capabilities. Their focus on user adoption also helped accelerate time to value for the business. "I know some other platforms could be cheaper, but sometimes cheap in the end is expensive," Rodríguez notes. "As MABE’s data needs continue to grow, we see Informatica as a strategic partner for unlocking all kinds of greater productivity and efficiency.”
With a solid data foundation in place, MABE is well-positioned to continue their remarkable growth story, using intelligent data governance to drive business value and the future of AI-driven decisions.
