In my previous blog post, I shared how, at Informatica, we strive to ensure a company culture where everyone can feel welcome and bring their authentic selves to work. Our company values, summed up in the word DATA, reflect our passion to build and deliver solutions that advance the intelligent data enterprise:

Do Good
Act as One Team
Think Customer-First
Aspire and Innovate

Like all Informaticans, corporate social responsibility (CSR) is very important to us. At Informatica India, our CSR strategic plan is focused on helping disadvantaged people across India. Throughout the year, we support dozens of activities and events that help our diverse community.

The world-renowned TCS World 10K Run Bengaluru race is one example.

"I have been running for many years and will continue to do so. It is not just fun for me. I feel a sense of belonging, purpose, and commitment to the community I belong to. I am humbled that I could contribute to the bigger cause. Thanks to Informatica for bringing the platform for enthusiastic Informatica runners who can run, enjoy and raise funds for underprivileged kids. TCS World 10K Bengaluru 2022 was a special event for me and will remain the same.”
– Surendra Naik, Principal HR Benefits Analyst, Informatica India, in an interview after his 10K run, which he completed in 71 minutes.

I felt fortunate to be a part of this noble cause. I will never forget that milestone moment on May 15, 2022, at 5:30 a.m. IST, Bengaluru, India, when 35,000+ runners from across the globe began their race in earnest. Due to the pandemic, the 2020 and 2021 races were app-enabled only and conducted on a much smaller scale. That’s why the 2022 race was so special and exciting. It returned to in-person, with participation from the global runners’ community. Informatica jumped in along with 250+ other corporations. In total, $200,000 USD was raised (~1.5 Cr. INR).

I am proud to share that 64 of my Informatica India colleagues joined the effort and, in total, raised $11,000 USD for disadvantaged youth. The TCS World 10K Run is a great platform for employees who want to contribute to make a difference. We knew that together we had the power to accomplish the extraordinary — and WE DID!

We also donated our CSR contributions to the fund-raising efforts of three extraordinary non-governmental organizations (NGOs) focused on the education and empowerment of children:

  1. Diya Foundation – Supporting education of blind and specially abled youth, based in Karnataka
  2. Reaching Hand – Supporting education and empowerment for girls, based in Chennai
  3. DESIRE Society – Supporting inclusion and education for HIV-affected youth, based in Bengaluru

For me, it doesn’t really matter who won the 10K run because I believe that we all are the winners. All 64 employees who participated are change-makers and influencers. Through the good they do, they set the pace for a brighter future for our country and society. Sometimes it may seem these efforts are just small things. But they’re not. They’re relevant, meaningful and making a big difference!

Next Steps
