The Vita Coco story
When Vita Coco launched in New York City in 2004, it brought coconut water into the mainstream beverage section of grocery stores, kickstarting a new category of premium lifestyle drink. A growing global brand sold in 30 countries, Vita Coco recognized it needed a more unified approach to data—to rapidly onboard new partners, optimize pricing and supply chain strategies, and anticipate shifts in consumer demand.
Obstacles to growth
Siloed
data sources
Incomplete
business context
Reliant on manual processes
Lack of real-time data
The proliferation of data sources, combined with the lack a centralized data management solution, made it difficult to achieve a holistic view of how coconuts move from plant to factory to consumer.
With data spread across many systems and no consistent integration layer among them, global decisions were often made with local data, introducing potential brand inconsistencies and business risk.
Creating holistic views of business-related information were typically hand-assembled, one-time exercises performed by temporarily interested parties without standards or historical context.
The inability to deliver rapid data integration between applications increased the risk of business disruptions, as well as potential opportunity costs from misallocated resources.
