Data Quality Monitoring
Measuring and Monitoring Data Quality Enterprise-wide with Powerful Content Profiling, Reporting, and Scorecarding Capabilities
Measurement and monitoring are central to all quality management systems, and data quality is no exception. Organizations that systematically measure data quality provide a foundation for effective data quality improvement as well as for understanding the appropriate uses of data.
In the past, organizations have depended on manual review and internally developed tools to measure data quality. But these manual approaches tend to limit measurement to the most easily detected errors—missing fields and duplicate records.
Informatica’s data management solution provides powerful content profiling and reporting functionality. Management-level reports measure the six key attributes of data quality (i.e., completeness, conformity, consistency, accuracy, duplication, and integrity) across all data. These drill-down reports let users zoom in from high-level views to inspect low-quality data records one by one to identify issues as part of an iterative discovery process.

Informatica’s data management solution includes the Informatica Data Quality Scorecard, which is an effective tool for driving data quality programs. The Scorecard tracks data quality improvements over time and can be integrated with the dashboard reporting tools in Informatica PowerCenter, as well as with third-party business intelligence solutions, to further enhance its reporting capabilities.
Informatica’s data management solution also provides the ability to grade data on a row-by-row basis to access its fitness for specific business processes. For example, Grade 2 data may be suitable for use in a marketing system, but risk management or financial and regulatory reporting may require higher quality.
