Modernizing a data platform for the cloud era

Panduit, a global leader in infrastructure and connectivity solutions, undertook an ambitious cloud modernization initiative known as the SPARK project to enhance its cloud readiness by implementing Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). The company sought to transition from a predominantly on-premises environment to a fully cloud-native data infrastructure, better aligning with its evolving business needs and technology roadmap.

This strategic initiative focused on modernizing on-premises PowerCenter workloads to Informatica’s Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC) platform by leveraging Informatica’s proven cloud modernization program, as well as upgrading data governance capabilities from older systems, such as Axon and Enterprise Data Catalog, to Cloud Data Governance and Catalog (CDGC). Building a modern, cloud-native data management platform with IDMC was critical to supporting higher scalability, flexibility and agility, empowering Panduit to innovate faster and operate more efficiently at scale.

Empowering teams with cloud-native tools

To successfully execute this modernization, Panduit implemented a suite of Informatica’s IDMC platform designed to democratize data management across the organization. By using Cloud Data Integration alongside CDGC, the company consolidated legacy on-premises point solutions with a comprehensive cloud solution that enabled seamless integration and sophisticated governance. The solution’s extensive library of pre-built connectors, including integration with Oracle systems, ensured smooth data flows across Panduit’s diverse technology ecosystem.

In addition, AI-powered tools such as CLAIRE GPT and Cloud Data Ingestion and Replication played a pivotal role by enabling “citizen developers” and data stewards (beyond just specialized IT teams) to actively participate in data governance and application development. This broadened engagement, reduced bottlenecks and empowered more users to contribute to maintaining data quality, lineage and security, thereby accelerating organizational data maturity and fostering a collaborative culture around data management.

Delivering fast and impactful modernization

Panduit’s modernization journey demonstrated the power of focused planning and agile execution, moving 100% of PowerCenter assets, saving time, cost and effort, and successfully transitioning to CDGC in just 60 days. Panduit achieved accelerated time to value by modernizing its on-premises workloads to the cloud, enabling the company to quickly realize benefits that positively impacted its data management landscape. This modernization initiative resulted in a 20% increase in governed data assets, showcasing broader and deeper adoption of governance policies and frameworks across departments.

Additionally, a 30% improvement in scanned data sources enhanced data visibility and lineage tracking, ensuring greater accuracy, compliance and trust in data assets. These rapid, measurable achievements have given Panduit a strong data foundation to accelerate further cloud adoption and leverage AI-driven capabilities, positioning the company for sustainable growth and innovation.

Innovating with customer-centric vision

Throughout its data modernization journey, Panduit has maintained a clear focus on aligning technology with its long-standing commitment to customer-centric innovation. By leveraging Informatica’s intelligent cloud platform, the company has empowered internal teams with scalable, flexible tools that enable rapid adaptations to emerging business challenges and opportunities. This transformation not only supports current operational requirements but also future-proofs the organization to embrace AI-driven insights and build smarter, more connected products and services.

Panduit’s data modernization strategy reinforces its position as a technology-driven company committed to pushing the boundaries of innovation and delivering high-quality, trusted solutions that meet the evolving demands of its customers and the market.
